Congratulations to former Mayor Cassella !

This morning, Chief Dennis Rivelli, Deputy Chief Tom Berlinski and several members of the East Rutherford Police Department were in attendance for the Riggin Field Track dedication to former Mayor, James Cassella.

The dedication commemorates Mayor Cassella's time in public service as our Mayor of 24 years and his contributions to the state of the art athletic complex, Riggin Field.

Thank you Mayor, well-deserved!

⚠️⚠️ Hackensack Street will be FULLY closed between Orchard Street and Union Avenue until approximately 5pm due to road construction. Please avoid the area and utilize posted detours. Please do not drive around traffic cones or marked police cars.

⚠️⚠️ Park Avenue will also be closed between Paterson Avenue and Orchard Street until approximately 5pm due to road construction.

Motorists are urged to use Route 17 South from Paterson Avenue to travel south of the Borough (to Rutherford, Lyndhurst etc)

This morning, members of our Department competed in the 2026 Special Olympics New Jersey Snow Bowl at Rutgers University.

With assistance from members of the Carlstadt Police and Wallington NJ Police Department, our team fell short of qualifying for the playoff rounds. While we may not have had the outcome we wished, our team and East Rutherford PBA 275 contributed $3,000 towards the NJ Special Olympics and the entire weekend event is projected to raise approximately $500K.

The Snow Bowl has been played every year since 2006, 20 years, and our Department has represented East Rutherford every year. Members, past and present, with help of surrounding Agencies, we have proudly contributed over $50K towards the NJ Special Olympics and their Athletes.
