I would like to extend my gratitude to IDOT’s Secretary Gia Biagi and the District 8 office for their outstanding efforts in repairing and paving Lake Drive. I also appreciate the numerous individuals who expressed their concerns and frustrations to me regarding the deteriorating condition of Lake Drive. Although it may have seemed that your concerns were being disregarded, the truth is that discussions were taking place behind the scenes to bring about the current positive outcome.

For many Illinois residents, cash remains a dependable and necessary way to pay for everyday purchases. People living with disabilities deserve the same opportunity to work, build a career and live with dignity as anyone else. I advanced a measure designed to remove unfair barriers to employment for people living with disabilities.

Belleville will receive a total of $250,000 through Illinois’ Safe Routes to School program to improve pedestrian safety and expand opportunities for children and families to safely walk and bike in their community. Keeping children safe on their way to school should always be a top priority for us.

On Friday, I had the privilege of attending the Second Annual Art Gala at the Armstead Center, hosted by Cahokia Unit School District #187. The event combined music, enjoyment, and dining, highlighting the importance of family and community in nurturing the artistic talents of these young individuals.
