Yesterday, 6/3/2026, was a busy day to say the least for your ACME Hose Company #1/ ESFD Volunteer Firefighters
The day started bright and early at 0242 hours where Station 21 was dispatched to the 30 block of Crystal Street for a reported Commercial Fire Alarm. 21-Engine-2 and 21 command arrived on scene. A faulty smoke detector was identified within the building. Alarm panel was reset and Station 21 became available.
The second call for service was at 1133 hours. Stations 21, 38 (Stroudsburg Fire Department) and Suburban EMS were dispatched to mile mark 306.5 for a reported Vehicle Fire. Suburban EMS arrived on scene and advised county that there was no fire, but rather a tire blowout. Stations 21 and 38 became available at 1136 hours.
The next call for service was shortly after at 1435 hours. Stations 21, 38, and Suburban EMS were dispatched to the 00 block of Dansbury Terrace for a reported Commercial Structure Fire. 21-Engine-2 and 21 Tower arrived on scene. Crews investigated the cause of the reported burning smell and returned to service 1505 hours.
Shortly after clearing the last incident, Stations 21,38, and Suburban EMS were dispatched to the 00 Block of Henry Street for a Reported Commercial Structure Fire. Stroud Area Regional Police Department arrived on scene and confirmed a working structure fire with heavy smoke coming out of the building. 21-Engine-2, 21 Command, and 21 Tower arrived on scene and quickly established water supply and put Handlines in service. Stations 29, 34, and 37 were added to the assignment. Multiple mutual aid companies continued to be added as the incident progressed. Northampton County Station 36 was requested for move up to cover any incoming calls in the area during the incident. Crews operated for several hours. The fire is still under investigation. 1 firefighter was evaluated on scene by EMS. Crews worked rigorously until 1918 hours.
As this Structure Fire was ongoing, another call to service arose. Stations 21 and 38 were requested to the 1000 block of West Main Street for a reported Commercial Fire Alarm. Incident was handled by Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder Fire Co. and Northampton County Plainfield Township Volunteer Fire Company Northampton County Station 36. Crews arrived on scene to find Smoke in the hallway of 3rd division. A culinary incident had occurred but there was no active fire luckily. Crews ventilated the hallway, and verified there was no hidden fire. Crews cleared at 1713 hours.
The final call for service was at 2030 hours for a reported smoke investigation at the 100 block of Forge Road. 21-Engine-2, 21-Engine-3 and 21 Command arrived on scene. Crews found a small campfire and extinguished it. Units cleared at 2110
We would like to extend a humble thank you to everyone that showed up yesterday. Yesterday was no small task, and when we called for help, everyone showed up in force, with numbers, ready to work, and that’s exactly what happened with excellent teamwork.
We are reminded yet again how lucky we are to have exemplary mutual aid companies everywhere. Not just next to our coverage area, and not even just in Monroe County.
