Thousands of families across New York State experience unsafe and unhealthy living conditions. Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) teams encounter situations like these on a daily basis, then by making improvements, change the lives of those most vulnerable in our communities.

We call on Governor Kathy Hochul and other state leadership to allow us to continue this essential work. Please find a way to fund WAP in New York’s Final Budget.

For the families we serve, the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is more than a program—it’s peace of mind.

*It’s the senior who can stay warm without choosing between heat and groceries.
*It’s the parent whose energy bills finally become manageable.
*It’s the child growing up in a safer, healthier home.

The Senate and Assembly have both included WAP in their budget proposals. Now, we need Governor Kathy Hochul and legislative leaders to ensure that support carries through to the final budget.

We urge E. Heastie, Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Senator Brian Kavanagh, B. Rosenthal, Senator Roxanne Persaud, and Assemblywoman Maritza Davila to protect this critical program.

WAP changes lives. Let’s keep it going.

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) doesn’t just support families—it supports local jobs and economies across New York.

From energy auditors to contractors and suppliers, WAP has a highly skilled workforce trained over a course of years. Without proper funding, these jobs and years of experience will be lost.

Both the Senate and Assembly have recognized the value of this program by including it in their one-house budgets. Now, we need that commitment reflected in the final budget.

We urge Governor Kathy Hochul, E. Heastie, Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Senator Brian Kavanagh, B. Rosenthal, Senator Roxanne Persaud, and Assemblywoman Maritza Davila to work together to secure WAP funding.

Investing in WAP means investing in New York’s people, homes, and economy.

As most of your know, funding for the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) in New York is in jeopardy this year.

WAP is included in both the Senate and Assembly one-house budgets—a sign that leaders know how critical this program is for New Yorkers.

Now, the final step: we need the Governor and Legislature to work together to secure WAP funding in the final budget.

For families we serve, WAP means lower energy bills, safer homes, and the ability to stay warm this winter.

We urge Governor Kathy Hochul, E. Heastie Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Senator Brian Kavanagh B. Rosenthal Roxanne Persaud Maritza Davila to work together and make this happen.

HCC's weatherization team joined their statewide colleagues in Albany on March 4, 2026 to speak with NYS legislators about the importance of the weatherization program and oppose the proposed cuts in Governor Hochul's budget. Weatherization is a federally authorized program that reduces energy costs...

The AEA team along with Weatherization agencies across the state were on the move last Wednesday, heading to Albany, New York!

We met with local elected officials to advocate for preserving funding for the Weatherization Assistance Program, a vital program that helps low-income families reduce energy costs, improve home safety, and build healthier living conditions.

As WAP celebrates 50 years, its impact on energy affordability and quality of life for vulnerable households remains as important as ever.

Friday the 13th was a lucky day for our Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) Building Analyst Professional (BA-P) class who were testing today. This group absolutely crushed it with a 100% class pass rate!

Recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy, BA-Ps go beyond diagnostics by analyzing energy modeling data, evaluating building systems, and providing prioritized recommendations to improve comfort, efficiency, and indoor air quality.

So proud of our affiliate member Hummingbird Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, & Electrical for their generous donation to CNY SPCA!

"We donated a maintenance, but once we started inspecting furnaces, we uncovered severely compromised heat exchanger on all the units, and it was clear people and animals were breathing in heavy amounts carbon monoxide throughout the whole building. Hummingbird is grateful to be able to give back to the community in dangerous times like these. We appreciate everyone who’s ever supported us. You have all helped make this possible as well.!!"

NYSWDA's Infrared Applications for Building Science class is a two-day training that combines classroom instruction with hands-on field exercises.

The course provides detailed instruction on the operation, calibration, and optimal use of thermal imaging equipment, including interpretation of infrared data and identification of building envelope deficiencies.
