Located in East Troy, WI, just 20 minutes from the resort area of Lake Geneva, WI, the East Troy Electric Railroad operates 10-mile round trip excursions from its historic depot and museum to the turn of the century-styled terminal at the renowned Elegant Farmer in Mukwonago, WI. The railroad and adjoining museum are home to over 20 rail treasures including open cars, locomotives, streetcars and i

nterurban coaches. The railroad also operates the only electric interurban dining car train in North America recreating the luxury that patrons once enjoyed when life seemed to pass by a little slower. The East Troy Electric Railroad is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization run by volunteers committed to the operation and preservation of historic trolleys and interurban railcars. All proceeds and sales benefit the education and preservation work of this museum.

šŸ“… This Day in History: June 4, 1918

On this date, North Shore Line Car 162 was involved in a bizarre accident in North Chicago, Illinois, where the tracks of the North Shore Line and the Chicago & North Western crossed.

Car 162 nearly stopped in time, barely touching the left drive rod of a small C&NW steam-powered switch engine. However, power was still being applied to the steam locomotive, and the moving drive rod locked onto the front of Car 162, causing the locomotive and its tender to gently tip over.

While there were only minor injuries to the C&NW crew and limited damage to Car 162, the steam locomotive itself was heavily damaged.

Support the museum's restoration of Car 162, ride the rails, and experience living history for yourself: https://www.easttroyrr.org/

How It Was Wednesday!

Several of our historic Chicago South Shore and South Bend interurban cars are becoming centenarians this year! Car 9 is among them, built in 1926 by the Pullman Car and Manufacturing Company in 1926.

šŸ½ļø Make Father’s Day weekend one to remember with a dinner aboard our historic train.

Settle in inside vintage dining cars and enjoy a full evening experience, starting with drinks at the Depot before boarding. As the train travels through the countryside, each course is served right at your table, from a Wisconsin cheese and sausage board to a Bavarian pork chop entrƩe, finished with a slice of Elegant Farmer apple pie.

Between courses, take in the views, stretch your legs during a short stop near Lower Phantom Lake, and enjoy after-dinner drinks on the return trip. It’s a relaxed, memorable way to celebrate Dad.
