We also honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, military members, and everyday Americans who came together to help one another in the days that followed.

🚧 Road Closure: N. Devon Ave🚧

Another day, another water main… and another road closure. 😅

N. Devon Ave. will be closed between 15th St NE and 14th St NE beginning Wednesday, September 9 at 9:00 AM as part of the East Wenatchee Water District’s Transmission Main Project.

📅 September 9 through approximately September 11
📍 N. Devon Ave. between 15th St NE & 14th St NE
🚦 15th St NE will remain open with flaggers controlling traffic
➡️ A signed detour route will be available
🏠 Local access will be maintained

The closure is needed to safely install buried utilities, complete road restoration and paving work, and finish roadway striping.

We know the construction has meant a LOT of closures and detours lately, and we appreciate everyone's patience as this major water infrastructure project moves forward.

🚧 Road Closure: 15th Street NE 🚧

We know… another road closure. 😅 Trust us, we’re keeping track too.

As the East Wenatchee Water District project continues, 15th Street NE and France Street between Eastmont Avenue and N Grover Avenue will close beginning:

📅 Wednesday, September 9 through approximately October 30
📍 15th Street NE & France Street - Eastmont Ave to N Grover Ave

A signed detour route will be available, and local access will be maintained during the closure.

The good news? This is another step toward getting this major water infrastructure project finished. The other good news? We promise we aren't closing every road in East Wenatchee. 😉

💙 Thank You, Councilmember Shayne Magdoff!

After eight years of dedicated service to the City of East Wenatchee, Councilmember Shayne Magdoff has resigned from the City Council.

Appointed in June 2018, Shayne has given countless hours to our community, both through her work on the Council and through her service on local boards and organizations, including Our Valley Our Future, the Columbia River Homeless Housing Task Force, NCW Equity Alliance, the Housing Authority, and the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center.

Reflecting on her time in public service, Shayne said:
“Serving this community has been one of the great honors of my life.”

Shayne, thank you for eight years of thoughtful leadership, advocacy, and commitment to East Wenatchee. We are grateful for your service and for the lasting impact you’ve made on our community.

While you may be stepping away from the Council, we know your love for this community isn’t going anywhere. ❤️

📢Starting next week, the intersection of Grant Road and Nile Ave will be under construction as Douglas County, works to build a roundabout there. Please read their post for more information.

🚧 NEW ROAD PROJECT: Grant Road & Nile Avenue Intersection Improvement

Construction is getting underway on the Grant Road and Nile Avenue Intersection Project beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The project will construct a two-lane roundabout at the intersection of Grant Road and Nile Avenue, improving safety and traffic flow at this intersection. Construction is expected to be substantially complete by summer 2027.

🚦 What to Expect

Grant Road: Open to traffic, but reduced to one lane in each direction between 1st St NE and 2nd St SE,

⚠️ A reduced 20 MPH speed limit will be in effect through the work zone.

Nile Avenue: Closed to through traffic within the project limits. Access for local residents will be maintained.

👷 Contractor: Selland Construction
💰 Funding: Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP)

Please use caution, slow down, and watch for construction activity and changing traffic patterns throughout the project.

5th Street is BACK! 🎉

After months of construction, 5th Street is finally open and there’s one important change drivers need to know.

🚗 Beginning September 1, the speed limit on 5th Street will change from 30 MPH to 25 MPH.

New road. New speed limit. Same goal: getting everyone home safely.

As you start using the newly reopened 5th Street, please slow down, stay alert and watch for pedestrians, cyclists and other drivers.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – 2nd St SE

A road construction project will begin Wednesday, September 2, 2026, on 2nd St SE between S Nile Ave and S Union Ave for the installation of a replacement water main.

📅 Project dates: September 2–October 23, 2026

🚧 Closures will occur in stages. The entire stretch of 2nd St SE will not be closed at the same time. As work is completed on one section, that section will reopen and the next section will close.

What to know:
• Local and emergency access will remain available throughout the project.
• The main detour route will be : S Union Ave, 4th St SE , S Nile Ave and Grant Rd.
• Local traffic may use local access roads, but through traffic will be routed on the detour.
• The contractor will manage traffic control and the sequencing of closures.

💧 Why is this work needed?
The project will replace an old, leaky water main to improve the reliability of the water system and ensure the work is completed safely and efficiently.

Please plan ahead, follow posted detours and traffic-control directions, and be patient with crews and contractors while this important work is completed.
