Calhoun County is under a Flood Watch through 7PM Saturday evening.

Remember, never drive through flooded roadways. It only takes a few inches of water to put you in a dangerous situation. Turn around, don’t drown!

UPDATE: All lanes are open

Use caution on I20 EB MM 175 one lane is open, but emergency crews are still on scene with Oxford, Al Fire Department and Lincoln Fire Department working to extinguish an RV fire.

Stay hydrated and out of this heat as much as possible!

Calhoun County has been placed under a Heat Advisory beginning tomorrow Monday June 29th at 11:00 AM and continuing through at least Tuesday June 30th at 9:00 PM.

Heat indices, or “feels like temperatures”, are expected to be above 105 degrees during the daytime hours and low temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s overnight.

Yesterday, our guys had the chance to further their knowledge in extrication. This was a class put on by the Alabama Fire College and it is a certified class. Thanks to munford fire for hosting and allowing our guys to further their education; as well as the instructors that took their time in that heat to make sure no one left with questions or doubts.

Saturday we trained on vehicle extrication. We went over various ways to gain entry to each vehicle and simulated rescuing a patient. This is valuable training and we would like to Thank Skinners Wrecker Service for providing the cars for this training.

Earlier this month we were dispatched along with Lincoln Fire Department and Lincoln Police Department to a structure fire. Upon arrival quick attack was made at the rear of the house. Entry was made and a dog and 2 cats were rescued and their lives were saved. The fire damage was also limited to the rear of the house. This was great teamwork from Eastaboga and Lincoln firefighters. They came together and worked as a team.
Tonight Lincoln Fire Chief Miller presented Jaylon Dulaney with a Letter of Commendation.
Jaylon Dulaney, Dawson Dulaney, and Chuck Hicks were presented with challenge coins from Lincoln Fire. Thank you Chief Miller for going above and beyond to show appreciation for these firefighters. Thank you to all of the firefighters with both departments that did an amazing job on this call. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.
