On Wednesday, November 5, take a deep dive into the world of eBird, one of the largest biodiversity-related science projects in the world. Whether you're a seasoned birder or just beginning your journey, this program is a perfect opportunity to deepen your understanding of birds and contribute to meaningful conservation efforts.

Learn how eBird supports scientific research and habitat management, discuss the tool's value to science, discover how eBird records were used to identify priority fields for grassland bird conservation, and find out how you can help us collect high quality bird data at Arcadia and across western Massachusetts.

This free program is supported in part by the Cornell Land Trust Bird Conservation Initiative and is a wonderful way to experience community science in action,

Did you know that your phone can be an excellent tool for exploring outdoors? Here are a few apps to help you search for that perfect hiking trail, record community science data, or identify plant, animals, insects, or birds:

While we typically encourage unplugged exploring for full immersion…there are a few exceptions. Every birder, hiker, and naturalist should utilize these apps to make the most of their outdoor adventures.

We recently welcomed families from the Holyoke Chicopee CFCE program funded by MA Dept of Early Education and Care (Head Start) for a fun guided program about Creepy Crawlies. Participants and Mass Audubon staff explored the sanctuary and discovered spiders, ants, beetles, a cicada exoskeleton, and several caterpillars. They also rolled logs and discovered salamanders underneath. A great day full of discoveries!
