The Newly Renovated Terry Coleman Center — Eastman, Georgia

Dodge County Eastman Development Authority received a $2 million state grant from Governor Brian Kemp’s Rural Site Development Initiative for the Eastman Aerospace Park adjacent to the Heart of Georgia Regional Airport. The property holds prestigious "GRAD Select" (Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development) certification to attract fast track aerospace and aviation industrial projects.

Location: Eastman Aerospace Park, situated next to the Heart of Georgia Regional Airport and Middle Georgia State University's School of Aviation.

Core Improvements: Funding targets critical water and sewage infrastructure, site grading, and property preparation on the acreage backing up to the airport runway. The grading and utilities work is now underway!

The Dodge County Eastman Development Authority recently toured the Howell Steel manufacturing facility to better understand their growing operation and the impact it is having on Dodge County.

Howell Steel has long been part of Dodge County’s business community, supplying and distributing steel products across the country. This newer facility represents an expansion into manufacturing, where coils of steel are processed and formed into structural steel components for customers nationwide.

The building itself was originally developed years ago by the DCEDA as a speculative industrial building designed to attract growth and investment into our community. Today, it is exciting to see that vision continuing to create opportunities through manufacturing expansion and job creation.

Since launching operations at this site, Howell Steel has added 12 jobs and is currently hiring for an additional 8 positions as they continue adding production lines and expanding capacity.

We appreciate Howell Steel’s continued investment in Dodge County and enjoyed the opportunity for our board members to tour the facility, learn more about the manufacturing process, and see firsthand the innovation and growth taking place right here in our community.
