Talbot County Council recognized National Emergency Medical Services Week with a proclamation honoring the dedicated EMS professionals who serve our community 24/7. 🚑

Members of the Talbot County Department of Emergency Services EMS Division attended Tuesday’s meeting, including Division Chief Tina Kintop, Lt. Jackie Reiss, Capt. Brian Micheliche, and EMT Drew Dickerson. Several additional EMS personnel were unable to attend because they were actively responding to emergency calls throughout the County at the time of the meeting.

This year’s national theme, “EMS Week: Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the critical role EMS providers play in emergency response, preventative care, follow-up care, and access to telemedicine services.

Council members thanked emergency responders for their service and dedication to protecting public health and safety in Talbot County.

“Your day in and day out — it’s not a ‘I can’t go,’ it’s ‘you’ve got to go,’” said Council President Chuck Callahan. “We appreciate the dedication that you give us here in Talbot County and we are blessed to have you.”

Congrats to Talbot County for becoming the first county in Maryland to reach 100% of locations with access to high-speed internet The infrastructure project, completed by local Internet Service Provider Easton Utilities and supported by DHCD’s Office of Statewide Broadband, provided access to high-speed Internet to more than 2,700 eligible locations across the county.

“This achievement by Talbot County and Easton Utilities signals major progress towards the Moore-Miller Administration’s objective to connect all Marylanders to high-speed internet by 2030,” said Secretary Jake Day. “Through sustained, coordinated investment and strong intergovernmental partnerships, the Office of Statewide Broadband is delivering results that make a real difference in the daily lives of Marylanders – expanding access to healthcare, education, job opportunities, and all of the benefits of the digital economy.”

“The completion of Connect Talbot is more than an infrastructure achievement, it’s a promise fulfilled to our community,” said John Horner, President and CEO of Easton Utilities. “By working hand in hand with our local, county, state, and federal partners, Easton Velocity has helped deliver universal broadband access across Talbot County. This level of partnership demonstrates what’s possible when we align around a common goal: empowering every household and business with the connectivity they need to thrive.”

“We’ve said from the beginning that everyone in Talbot County deserves access to reliable internet, no matter where they live,” said Talbot County Government Council President Chuck Callahan. “This is a big milestone for our county and something we can all be proud of. Thank you to Easton Utilities, Town of Easton, the State of Maryland, and everyone who worked together to get this done for our community.”

“We are so proud to be part of this project and to support Easton Utilities as they continue to go above and beyond for our community,” said Town of Easton Mayor Megan Cook. “Connect Talbot extends the vital resource of broadband access throughout our region, connecting our rural neighbors across the county to a faster network and enriching their quality of life. The collaboration among Easton Utilities, the Town of Easton, Talbot County, and state and federal agencies is a testament not only to the significance of this project, but also to the power of what can be accomplished when we work together.”

It’s been quite a day in Talbot County — starting this morning with the Business Appreciation Summit with Talbot County Economic Development and Tourism and moving on to Bluepoint Hospitality Group’s First Responders Celebration. Events like these are a reminder of the people who help make this community strong every day.

It was wonderful to see the community come together in support at both of these events, and we’re grateful to Governor Wes Moore for joining the celebration and sharing words of appreciation at each event. 🚓🚑🚒
