We are proud to support Rob Blanchard for State Senate.

Over the past several years, Easton Democrats have seen firsthand Rob’s commitment to our community. He shows up, puts in the work, and delivers results.

Rob has worked hard to help Easton residents, solve problems, and make sure our town has a voice in Hartford. He has consistently been there when our community needed him.

We are excited to work hard to help elect Rob because our district deserves a hardworking, effective leader who will serve with integrity, common sense, and a commitment to getting things done.

Now, we need your help. A contribution of just $5 will help Rob reach the public financing threshold and build the resources needed to win this race. If you’ve been looking for a way to support a candidate who shows up, does the work, and puts our communities first, this is it. Please consider making a donation today.

Historian Heather Cox Richardson just released her "250 to 250 Project" videos this week to honor the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. And our very own Senator Chris Murphy is featured in one of the first where he narrates the story of CT's Charter Oak. Below is more information on the series and the video.

"We designed these to emphasize the agency of Americans—mostly everyday Americans—to change the country. Each falls into a category that defines what it means to be an American, including community, democracy, innovation, mobility, civil rights, education, conservation, and creativity.

You can follow these videos at the sites listed below, or under “videos” at my own YouTube page: Heather Cox Richardson."

Selectman Nick D’Addario emphatically exposes the growing role of unelected and unofficial operatives — in particular resident and Asst. Registrar of Voters Tom Herrmann — exercising authority behind the scenes at Town Hall.

Easton residents deserve transparency and accountability from the First Selectman they actually elected to lead our government.

This is not normal behavior. Backroom authority and unofficial control over town operations is not appropriate, and it is not how our town government is supposed to work. Unelected, unvetted, and unknown individuals should not be directing or influencing town employees and volunteers.

Why aren’t you doing the job you were elected to do?

Easton Democrats agree with Selectman Kristi Sogofsky (R) that First Selectman Lent’s comments suggesting that those who grew up in Easton somehow care more deeply about our town were offensive.

For many of us who did not grow up here but proudly call Easton home, those comments miss what truly makes this community special.

We said it this past November and we will say it again today: it does not matter whether you have lived here for three months or three generations — if you choose to make Easton your home, you are part of this community.

There is no purity test for being part of Easton, and that is not up for debate.

Memorial Day asks us to pause and reflect on the extraordinary sacrifice of men and women who put duty before self and who never had the opportunity to return home to their families and communities.

This year especially, as our nation begins commemorating the America250 celebration, Memorial Day takes on even deeper meaning. Two hundred and fifty years ago, generations of Americans began a journey founded on the ideals of liberty, self-government, and freedom. But those ideals have endured only because generation after generation answered the call to defend them.

In Easton, we are fortunate to live in a town that values service — in our veterans, first responders, volunteers, and neighbors who step forward for one another. Memorial Day reminds us that freedom is never guaranteed. The ability to gather, to speak freely, to participate in our democracy, and to live as Americans comes with a cost that others were willing to bear on our behalf.

As we spend time with family and friends today, let us remember those who cannot, and let us honor their memory not only with words, but by living lives worthy of the freedoms they secured for us.

Thank you to our veterans, military families, and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. May we never forget them.
