Happy Easter to all who celebrate.

This photo was taken Easter Sunday, April 6, 1958 and featured the following description, "Among Tiniest Paraders in Brockton's Easter procession Sunday were Donald Simpson, only a year and a half old, and his sister, Joyce, three, of 166 Laureston Street, both of whom little realized that many eyes were upon them as they walked down Main street together."

Spring Traffic: A look back to March 30, 1968, where warm weather caused what Stanley Bauman described as the almost daily traffic jam on some key Brockton roads. This photo was taken in the afternoon on West Street (about 97 West Street), looking north towards Pleasant Street, with bumper-to-bumper traffic for nearly a fourth of a mile; March 30, 1968

The Bauman Collection is one of 13 collections in the Stonehill Archives. With over 500,000 negatives taken by Stanley Bauman between the 1930s-early 2000s it is also the one we spend the most time working on to make it accessible. To date we've processed negatives between 1946-1961 and are currently working on 1962. All information about the collection and processing negatives can be found on our website (stonehill.edu/archives). I just wanted to take this moment to than the 6 wonderful students who are working with me this semester on the Bauman Collection. Upper left, Laura; Upper right, Colin; Lower left, Adison; Lower right (l-r) Julia, Emm and Kim. Colin and Emma are our work-study students. Julia is a volunteer. Laura, Adison and Kim are all interns.

This Stanley Bauman photo was taken on February 21, 1955, and is simply titled Fall River Expressway: New Highway Crowded. Today it is simply known as Route 24. We don't know what time or exactly where it was taken, but I'm sure most of us would agree it's much busier 71 years later.

With the beginning of the Spring Semester, we are pleased to announce that we will begin posting Bauman images on this page again a few times each month. Today's photo was taken 56 years ago on January 21, 1970, and features then Stonehill president, Fr. John T. Corr presenting a model for a new student union building, part of Development for 70s program for Stonehill College. The concept drawing is very different from what was ultimately built, which today is known as the College Center and Merkert Gymnasium.

Youngsters in the neighborhood of Wellington place have Elmer Shaw, 9 Wellington place, to thank for a community playground which he has built not only for his own sons but for the children in the entire section as an attraction to keep them off the streets. And judging from the popularity of the ladder, swings and crossbars which feature the playground, the idea is working. Its present crowded occupants are Robert L. Shaw, 12, of 2 Wellington place; his brother, Elmer W. Shaw, 13; Robert Hauser, 12, of 18 Arch Street; William V. Shaw, five, Francis Susi, six, of Hancock street; and Arthur Shaw, nine. In front are Fred Roberio, six, of 16 Curve Avenue, and Arthur J. Healy, three and a half of 9 Wellington Place; September 18, 1946
