Summer Program is still going strong! ☀️

As summer begins to wind down, our youth have been making the most of every minute! From exciting adventures to learning new skills and giving back to the community, it’s been a summer filled with fun, growth, and plenty of great memories. 💙

🏎️ Go-karting
🤸 Sky Zone Trampoline Park
🤝 Volunteering in the community
🔫 Laser tag
🏊 Swimming & water safety lessons at the Easton YMCA
🪨 Exploring Crystal Cave
🍧 Trips to Rita’s Italian Ice
🛍️ Mall outings
👩‍🍳 Cooking & baking challenges

We’ve definitely been busy! These experiences are about so much more than having fun—they give our youth opportunities to try new things, build confidence, learn important life skills, strengthen relationships, and simply enjoy being kids.

There’s still a little summer left, and we plan to make it count! ☀️💙

🥞🍳 It’s one of our favorite CHE traditions — the annual Breakfast in Bed! 💙

Every year on the Friday before school starts, CHE staff arrive on campus bright and early to cook up an incredible breakfast for our youth and help send them into the new school year feeling celebrated and supported.

There’s something pretty special about starting the day with a homemade breakfast delivered right to your cottage — especially when it comes with lots of smiles and well wishes for an amazing year ahead! 🥓🧇🍓

We love this tradition and the chance it gives our staff to remind our youth that we’re cheering them on every step of the way.

Here’s to a great school year, CHE kids! 📚✏️💙

🌿🎨 Special shoutout to our new friends at Industrial Gas Services & Products!

The UIG team joined us on campus this week and rolled up their sleeves to help with several projects, including planting shrubs and landscaping around our cottages and painting a very special new space on campus!

We’re so grateful for community partners who are willing to give their time and talents to help make our campus feel even more welcoming and special for the youth we serve. 💙

Thank you, UIG, for spending the day with us. We can’t wait to share more about that special new room soon! 👀✨

✨ A Great Evening with Our CHE Board! ✨

We had a wonderful evening celebrating our annual Board Mixer at The Steel Club! It was a great opportunity for our Board members and staff to come together, connect, and enjoy a night outside of our usual meetings.

A special thank you to Marc Ashner, our guest speaker for the evening, who shared more about the connection between BSI Corporate Benefits and The Children’s Home and the incredible partnership we’ve built over the years. We are so grateful for community partners like BSI who believe in our mission and continue to support the youth and families we serve. 💙

And, of course, thank you to our dedicated Board of Directors for the time, leadership, and commitment you give to CHE throughout the year. We’re grateful to have you as part of the CHE family!

Sometimes, the impact of caring for a young person isn't fully understood until many years later. 💙

After reading the news of Executive Director Anita Jo Paukovits’ upcoming retirement, a former resident reached out to share these words:

“As a former child at The Children’s Home, I wanted to wish Anita the best and give her a long overdue and sincere thank you. When I left, it wasn’t under the greatest of terms, but now, many years later, I can see the sacrifices Anita, Cindy, Joe and the people who cared for us made.

My story may not have looked like a success at the time, but what The Children’s Home gave me was a guide.

Thank you, Anita, for the way you cared for us and protected us. From my family to you — job well done.”

— Former CHE Resident

Messages like this are a beautiful reminder that we don't always get to see the impact of the work in the moment. Sometimes, its meaning becomes clear years, even decades later. 💙

What happens when you give a group of kids $50, a grocery store, and a BBQ challenge? 🌭🛒🍝

Our older youth recently took part in a two-part BBQ challenge designed to teach teamwork, budgeting, planning, and what to bring when you're invited to a party or event.

On Monday, teams headed to with a $50 budget to plan and purchase a side dish. They learned how to use coupons, find sales, stay within a budget, and even check themselves out! We’re proud to say every team came in under budget, with the most expensive dish costing just $39. 👏

The teams got together yesterday to prepare their dishes for the BBQ. Then came the judging! Teams competed for:
🏆 Best Teamwork
🍴 Best Tasting Dish
💰 Best Budget

Congratulations to Team Green Beans, whose pasta salad earned them the overall win! As an extra prize, the team also received a brand-new set of pots and pans.

Of course, no BBQ is complete without cupcakes, ice cream, and BBQ-themed bingo! 🎉

It was a fun-filled experience, but more importantly, our youth got to practice real-life skills they can use long after the BBQ is over. ❤️
