Gravestones have changed over the years for a variety of reasons. Tony Moore, Funeral Service Educator Program Director, returns to the Library and will talk about the changes in gravestones over the years. He will discuss the costs, the development and design of grave markers, including the historical significance of cradle (French Garden) graves.
Ed Dougherty, preservationist from Oaklands Cemetery, will talk about ongoing care of gravestones, with an emphasis on cradle (French Garden) graves and their restoration. His talk will include cleaning and preserving grave markers as well as repair techniques and the importance of cemetery conservation.
This free program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library and Friends of Historic Easton Cemetery. Registration is recommended.
