We are excited! On Saturday, Parks had their first ever Intro to Archery program at the new archery range at Wayne Grube Park. About 30 people showed up on what turned out to be a beautiful August day!

This is an event designed for all skill levels from beginners to those looking to sharpen their skills. One-on-one instruction with certified archery instructors. Participants can shoot both compound and crossbows. All archery equipment will be provided. Must be 14 years or older to participate.

Our Wildflower Week and the Louise Moore Park BioBlitz last month were successful. About 230 people participated in the various events held each day. And over 1,000 species of living organisms were located, identified, and documented by our BioBlitzers that week here at Louise Moore Park.

We’ve got tentative plans for a 2nd annual Wildflower Week next July!

We're celebrating Moth Week 2026 (July 18-26). While some moths fly during the day, it takes night-time observation to discover the huge diversity we have in our parks. Stephen Kloiber led a moth (& night critter) survey at Louise Moore Park during Wildflower Week. Attendees observed and captured images for our iNaturalist bioblitz. This Harnessed Tiger Moth was one of over 114 species of moths that we identified. While this seems like a lot, 2300 species of moths have been identified in Pennsylvania, so there are many more to be found.
