Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 73rd Annual Eastport Fire Department Chicken & Lobster BBQ!

We were humbled to welcome over 700 guests through our gates in the first 30 minutes, making for an incredible evening filled with live music, great food, and community spirit. From fresh chicken and lobster to half-shell clams, steamed clams and mussels, sweet corn, watermelon, and the Ladies Auxiliary’s homemade salads, we hope everyone had a wonderful time.

This event has been a cherished Eastport tradition for 73 years, and it would not be possible without the support of our community, our dedicated volunteers, the Ladies Auxiliary, and generations of firefighters and their families.

If you attended, we’d love to see your favorite moments! Please share your photos from the BBQ in the comments or tag the Eastport Fire Department so we can relive another amazing year together.

From all of us at the Eastport Fire Department—thank you for your continued support. We can’t wait to see you again next year!

We are very excited to serve our loyal patrons who have been attending our barbecue for years, and all the newcomers this year!

This year sadly, some of the landscape has changed, some of our most dedicated and loyal comrades can no longer be with us as we dish out the sweetest lobster on the east end, and shuck the best and tastiest clams on the island.

Let’s raise a glass at some point today to our very dear friends Keith Kostuk and Mel Gordon who i’s sure are watching down from above smiling as they did for so many years at the barbecue.!!

For 73 years, our annual BBQ has been about more than great food—it’s been about community and tradition. Generations of firefighter families have grown up around this event, from little ones lending a hand alongside their parents to members of our Junior Program.

We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces, welcoming new ones, and continuing a tradition that has brought our community together for decades.

Don’t forget to share your favorite photo with us!

We’ll see you tomorrow!

While some of our members are spending the evening supporting our neighbors at the Hampton Bays Fire Department Carnival and Parade, we’re counting down the days until Saturday.

One of the sights that signals BBQ day has officially begun is watching the pits being lit. It’s where the work starts and another Eastport tradition comes to life.

Just a few more days, we’ll see you Saturday!

Yesterday marked the start of BBQ setup at the Eastport Fire Department. It’s a week-long effort that our members take on every year with a lot of pride and excitement as we get everything ready for Saturday.

We’re looking forward to another great year and can’t wait to see everyone this Saturday!

Until then, enjoy this blast from the past. The Chicken & Lobster BBQ has been an Eastport tradition for 73 years.

See you Saturday!

“I joined the Eastport Fire Department to volunteer in my community and to give back, to help my neighbors. I think being able to train ourselves to become valuable and effective on someone’s worst day is important in life and it's very it's a very rewarding feeling to be able to do something like that. You know, in the fire department we have this camaraderie that brings us together and we work as a team, and it's just it's a great feeling to be able to do all that.

It’s a great feeling to be a part of a team.

You know it's difficult to put a finger on what the most memorable incident is because there are so many of them good/bad, fire related, EMS related, personnel related, friends and more, there’s just so many experiences I have had that have just made being a volunteer just a wonderful experience.

It's the whole collective group of things that have occurred over the last 44 years.”

Ed Schneyer is a familiar face in our community and across Suffolk County, thanks to his many years with FRES and his direct impact on Eastport as a Chief, Fire District Commissioner, and more. During the Eastport BBQ, you’ll often find Ed with his wife Tina, who has been part of the ladies auxiliary for many years, greeting the many friends he’s made through his years of service. Ed continues to share his knowledge and commitment with the Eastport Fire Department.

Follow along for more highlights showcasing why our members joined and their memorable moments.
