On August 25, 2026, deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Team conducted an illegal electric motorcycle (e-moto) enforcement operation in the city of Eastvale. The operation focused on the unlawful operation of electric motorcycles as well as educating riders.

The operation resulted in the following:
- 11 electric motorcycles or scooters were towed and stored.
- 11 citations for driving without a driver’s license.
- 3 citations for tampering or modifying an electric bicycle.
- 1 citation for knowingly permitting a child under 18 years old to drive a motor vehicle upon a highway unlicensed.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind parents and guardians that an electric bicycle (e-bike) with no pedals and a motor exceeding 750 watts is an electric motorcycle and cannot be legally operated by an unlicensed driver on public thoroughfares. Additionally, some electric motorcycles are strictly manufactured for off-road use and lack mandated road safety equipment to drive on highways.

During the operation, multiple juveniles were contacted and educated about the restrictions on e-bike use.

Anyone with concerns regarding illegal e-bike or electric motorcycle operation is encouraged to contact Deputy Armenta at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at (951) 955–2600 or Riverside Sheriff’s Dispatch at (951) 776–1099.

For media inquiries regarding this incident please contact the Media Information Bureau.
