🚨 The Final Week of School Is Here! 🚨

We’ve made it to the last week of the 2025-2026 school year, and there is plenty of excitement ahead!

📚 Tomorrow is our final day of SOL testing with Grade 8 Science. All 8th-grade students should arrive on time with their CHARGED Chromebooks ready to go. After Monday, all remaining testing will be makeup testing and expedited retakes for students who scored between 375 and 399 on their SOL assessments. Students who qualified for expedited retakes in English, Math, and Civics have already been notified.

📊 SOL scores will begin being released to students starting Tuesday. Thank you to our students for their hard work and dedication throughout testing season!

🎉 Now for the fun part! This week will be filled with GIVEAWAYS! Thanks to the incredible generosity of members of our community, we have a variety of items that will be raffled off to students for their outstanding efforts this year.

Students can earn raffle entries in many ways, including:
✅ One entry for every class passed for the year (Y1)
✅ Perfect attendance during the month of May
✅ One entry for every SOL assessment passed
✅ No referrals during the months of May and June

There are plenty of opportunities to earn entries, and we can't wait to celebrate our students' success!

🎓 We’ll wrap up the week with our Grade 8 Promotion & Awards Ceremony on Friday evening in the Auditorium. Tickets will be distributed to students on Thursday and Friday.

Normally, this page highlights the tremendous work and achievements of our Golden Bull Students. Tonight, we spent time honoring some of our tremendous faculty and staff. At this evenings NCPS Excellence in Education Awards dinner, we honored our award winning faculty and staff.

A special shout out to Mr. Melvin Burton, our head custodian who has been with NCPS for nearly 5 (!!!) decades and has 47 years of service with the county.

🏆🐂 Golden Bull Awards – May 2026 🐂🏆

As we close out the school year, we're excited to recognize our final Golden Bull Award winners for the month of May!

🌟 Horn Award (Perfect Attendance)
These students achieved an incredible 20 straight days of attendance during the month of May. Their commitment to being present and ready to learn each day is a tremendous accomplishment! Each student received a new NMS Shirt and a $25 Gift Card to a local business in Cape Charles!

🌟 No Referral Award Winners
These students demonstrated outstanding behavior and positive decision-making throughout the entire month by receiving zero discipline referrals in May! Each student also recieved a new NMS Shirt and a $25 to Walmart or Amazon.

📢 SOL Score Release Update for NMS Families 📢

As we continue our SOL testing season, we want to provide an update regarding score reports.

At this time, Northampton Middle School is only releasing scores to students who qualified for an Expedited Retake (scores between 375-399). Full SOL results will be released to all students and families next Tuesday after all initial testing has been completed.

In the meantime, DON'T WORRY! We want our students focused on the next test, not the last one. We are off to a great start with testing, and we are proud of the effort our students have shown so far.

Tomorrow, students will take the Math SOL. Please help your child be prepared by making sure they:
✅ Get a good night's rest
✅ Arrive at school on time
✅ Bring a fully charged Chromebook

SOL Testing Begins Tomorrow, Monday, June 1st, at NMS — Here are a few important reminders for this week!

- Please ensure your student gets a full night’s sleep before each testing day.
- Students must arrive on time at school by 7:45 am daily. Testing will begin daily by 8:15 am.
- This is a reminder that personal electronics (phones, smartwatches, tablets, wireless headphones, etc.) are not permitted in testing locations. Just like any other day, these devices MUST be kept in lockers.
- All students should bring their charged laptops each day with a charger.
- Students who wear glasses should bring and wear them during testing.
- Please try to avoid picking up students early on test days.
- If you must enter the building during testing, please remain quiet in the lobby to maintain the best testing environment for our students, as our main entrance is in a hallway where testing will be occurring.
