This afternoon (8/6), we had the privilege of helping the Eaton Rapids Marching Greyhounds cool off during their annual band camp. These musicians worked hard all week perfecting their craft and deserved a moment to relax and have fun. We had a blast, too! Making memories with the future of the Only Eaton Rapids on Earth!

It was a busy day today (7/25) for ERFD. In support of Eaton Rapids Township Fire Department, we attended their open house today. It was a great turnout, with lots of families enjoying so many activities. Great job, ERTFD! We also supported Olivet Firefighter's Association for their Firefighter's Festival. We raised the stars and stripes over the parade route. After the parade, we offered OFD personnel a chance to train with the tower. We were treated to a delicious chicken dinner. Thank you to both departments for the invite. We are proud to support our neighbors.

Last night, we held our annual emergency vehicle driver training competency course with Eaton Rapids Township Fire Department. We also trained on safe procedures to close a lane when needed for roadway incidents. ERFD would like to thank Eaton Rapids Public Schools for allowing us to use the child development center and central office parking lots and the bus compound to perform this training. We deeply appreciate the collaborative relationship we have with the school system. Without it, this training would be nearly impossible to perform. Thank you!

On behalf of the Eaton Rapids Police and Eaton Rapids Fire Departments, we would like to extend a big thank you to all who helped make our Independence Day celebration a success. We couldn't do it without all of your support.

WOW! What a weekend! The Eaton Rapids 250th Independence Day celebration has come and gone, but not without some unexpected excitement.
On Thursday, ERFD was ready for the weekend. Trucks washed, plans laid out, details tended to.
Friday started out calm. Final checks and rechecks done. Let's head to the event tent to standby and support the bands.
Mother Nature: WAIT A MINUTE!!! In comes the storm. Our focus shifted from celebration to full-scale storm response. Trees and wires down, streets blocked, no power for vulnerable residents. Every single City of Eaton Rapids service took immediate action, along with mutual aid partners. Police, Fire, DPW, Electric, City Hall all worked to return Eaton Rapids to celebratory status, and it was no small feat. The storm left our city a mess. DPW and Electric worked all night and into Saturday afternoon to get the majority of ER back on the grid. Those crews deserve all the accolades you can give them. They were already working at capacity to prep for the weekend, then had a wrench thrown at them. But they still came through for you.
Ok then, time to celebrate! You saw us and our public safety partners all throughout the day. With trucks in the parade and standing by on the sidelines, and personnel mingling within the crowds, we were ready to serve you at a moment's notice.
After the parade we participated in the water ball competition with Hamlin Township Fire Rescue, Eaton Rapids Township Fire Department, and Onondaga Township Fire Department. Congrats to OTFD on their victory. It was a great time! Immediately after, our ladder truck turned into the largest splash pad in ER! There were SO MANY people enjoying the waterfall. It was great seeing all the littles having fun running through the water.
After a short break, it was time for fireworks. ER showed up in force! Again, we and our partners were ready to serve you. Our day didn't end until well into the overnight.

Eaton Rapids Township Fire Department, Hamlin Township Fire Rescue, Eaton Area EMS, City of Charlotte Police Department, and Eaton Rapids Medical Center for their assistance in every aspect of this event.
Our gratitude and special thank you to Eaton Rapids Police Department, Eaton County 911, and Eaton County Emergency Management for their tireless work in developing a top-tier Emergency Action Plan that helped keep Eaton Rapids safe. I know I failed to mention some people. We see you and we appreciate you. Without you all, this event would not have been the success it was. Thank you all so much!!

Happy Independence Day!! There's a bunch of events today in Eaton Rapids. Your Eaton Rapids area first responders will be out all day helping you celebrate America's 250th. At the same time, we're ready to help you in a time of need. When you see us, say HI! Enjoy your day, stay safe, and come out to celebrate with your neighbors.

Last Saturday, June 13, 2026, at our department open house and recruiting event, we had a VERY SPECIAL guest visit the fire house. Thomas Ackley, joined by his wife Vicki, came to see us. Why is Tom VERY SPECIAL, you ask? A while back, we were called to their home, along with Eaton Rapids Township Fire Department and Eaton Area EMS. Tom had fallen into cardiac arrest. As a result of the collective efforts of all involved, we were able to bring Tom back, stabilize him, and transport him to UM-Sparrow Hospital, where he received critical cardiac care. Tom is alive because the people who dedicate their lives to helping others responded to the call. We are honored to have this opportunity to see Tom and Vicki and to give them more time together. We organized and participated in the mock crash scenario for the high school prom. On May 1St.
On May 21st the department held an open house and recruitment drive.
