We are excited to share with you our new Middle School Science teacher, Mr. Corts! Please join us in welcoming him to his new role!

Hello! My name is Shane Corts and I am thrilled to be teaching middle school science this year at Island City Academy. I graduated from Spring Arbor University in 2022. I taught science here at ICA in 2021 for the summer school program and am so excited to be back this school year! I love teaching science as it can create a spark of curiosity about the world around us and make us want to learn more about how the world works. I look forward to a really fun year!

We are excited to share with you a new staff member at ICA! Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Sims, our new Administrative Assistant.

Hello! My name is Sarah Sims. I am excited to be working as the Administrative Assistant at ICA, and love the purpose that this position and environment have provided for me after retiring from the U.S. Army in 2024 with 25 years of service. I have called Eaton Rapids home since 2012. My husband, Scott, and I are proud parents of five children; Cora, Hayley and Garrett, who all have been or currently are students at ICA, and our two adult children, Scottie and Katie. Earlier this year, we became grandparents for the first time when Scottie and his wife, Kassondra, welcomed our grandson, Easton. We are excited to travel to England to get some much-anticipated baby snuggles! We enjoy spending weekends on the water and snow at our cottage on Houghton Lake, and traveling to different parts of the U.S. in our RV, though usually followed up with some sort of National Lampoon's Vacation story to tell. Our youngest children have been to 25+ states each and it is our goal to continue growing that number with them. I graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor's of Business Management in 2002 and am interested in pursuing further education related to environmental conservation, natural resources and horticulture.
