My fellow Putnamaniacs,

Starting today, you can renew your registrations, pay insurance lapse fines, and renew your drivers' licenses at tag kiosks across the state. You can find a kiosk using the locator linked on our website - https://dor.georgia.gov/georgia-self-service-tag-kiosk

The closest to this Office is at the Lake Oconee Publix grocery store. The kiosk is located in the exit lobby, so it is only accessible during Publix business hours. But for those of you who live near Lake Oconee, this option, though it requires an additional processing fee to cover the kiosk maintence and site rent, can save you tons of time fighting traffic all the way to town. (They charge a 2.5% processing fee for credit/debit cards AND a flat $4.95 for Drivers Licenses and $3.95 for Motor Vehicle transactions.)

The kiosk provides a printed decal on the spot, so there is no waiting for the mail and hoping that it gets where it's going.

Those of you near Lake Sinclair have not been forgotten. Recent fiscal issues have postponed plans to install a kiosk in the Kroger supermarket. That seemed the best location for the south side of the county, since Putnam doesn't have a retail partner (like Kroger or Publix) on the southside for a kiosk.

We have plans to erect another kiosk inside Putnam - One that is located outdoors and accessible 24 hrs a day. There, you will be able to pay property taxes and other select bills in addition to tags and insurance lapses. This improvement is probably still at least a year out from realization - The handshake has been made, but nothing is on paper, yet.

In the meantime, this kiosk at Publix will serve you well.

Understanding Putnam County’s Sales Ratio Study

How accurate are property assessments in Putnam County?

Each year, the Georgia Department of Audits & Accounts conducts an independent Sales Ratio Study to compare county property assessments with property sales and state-reviewed values.

For 2024, Putnam County’s Sales Ratio was 40.01 which is closely aligned with the state benchmark of 40.00.

This result reflects the continued work of the Putnam County Tax Assessor’s Office, led by Chief Appraiser Chuck Anglin, to maintain accurate property valuations and meet Georgia’s statutory valuation requirements.

We’re sharing this information to help residents better understand how property values are reviewed and how Putnam County’s assessments compare with the state’s findings.
