DEER HUNTERS: There are many new regulations for the 2026-2027 deer hunting season.
🦌 The annual buck bag limit is now 7 antlered deer. Deer hunters are no longer required to choose between harvesting two antlered deer during the Six-Day Firearm season or harvesting one during the Six-Day season and one during the Permit Shotgun season.
🦌Youth hunters are now exempt from antler point restrictions across all deer seasons.
🦌 The number of regulation sets was reduced from 9 to 4. The four new regulation sets are High, Medium, Low and Safety Regulation Sets. Regulation Set Safety is not applicable in the 2026–27 deer hunting season. The reduction in regulation sets also helped align season dates. See the map here:https://dep.nj.gov/wp-content/uploads/njfw/deer-zone-map-and-season-regulation-sets-reference-chart.pdf
🦌The Multi-Zone Permit was expanded and is now available for the High, Medium, and Low regulation sets for all permit seasons (see page 34 of the Hunting & Trapping Digest for more information).
🦌Deer harvests must now be reported by 10 p.m. on the day of harvest. Further reporting information can be found on page 30 of the Hunting & Trapping Digest.
🦌Zones 45 and 46 are only open for fall bow, youth days, six-day firearm, and winter bow seasons.
🦌It is now required that bowhunters participating in the Six-day Firearm Season wear hunter orange.
