FUN FACT: 100 years after Eatonvilleโ€™s incorporation, The Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community, Inc. (P.E.C.) was formed in 1987 to combat Orange Countyโ€™s attempt to make Kennedy Boulevard a five-lane highway. Led by Executive Director N.Y. Nathiri, the organization rallied 175 individuals and collected 50,000 signatures to demand another public meeting with the county commission. They recruited an engineer whose study concluded that a smaller roadway could handle traffic. And thus began P.E.C.'s legacy of preserving Eatonville's unique community.
