A day of successful fishing was had by the WI Women Veterans Rivers of Recovery on the Namekagon River today. I tell all the female vets that come through our office about this amazing group of women and what the program does for healing and self esteem. Check out their video and don’t hesitate to get in touch for upcoming dates!

Before celebrating Independence Day, take a few minutes to read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution for yourself.

In the summer of 1776, Thomas Jefferson drafted the words, which were refined by Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and others before being adopted by the Continental Congress. What emerged was more than a declaration of independence; it was a statement of principles that has influenced generations of Americans and people around the world.

250 years later, it is remarkable that ideas written with a quill and ink in a small room in Philadelphia continue to shape conversations about liberty, equality, self-government, rights, responsibilities, and the relationship between citizens and their government.

General James Mattis believed that the greatest weapon in the American arsenal was not a tank, aircraft, or missile, but the individual Marine or soldier carrying the mission forward. During the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, he earned a reputation for leading from the front and demanding excellence from himself and those under his command. Mattis emphasized discipline, professional education, and personal responsibility, insisting that commanders owed their troops the best training, preparation, and leadership possible before asking them to enter combat. His legacy endures in the generations of warfighters he mentored and in his conviction that America's military strength begins with the character, competence, and dedication of its people.

General Norman Schwarzkopf, known to millions as "Stormin' Norman," believed that the first duty of a commander was to accomplish the mission while bringing as many of his soldiers home as possible. Much like Colin Powell, he was shaped by his experiences in Vietnam. He became a strong advocate for clear objectives, thorough preparation, and overwhelming force before committing troops to combat. During Operation Desert Storm, he led one of the most successful campaigns in modern military history, achieving decisive results while keeping coalition casualties remarkably low. His leadership reflected a deep respect for the American warfighter and a conviction that soldiers deserved competent leadership, realistic training, and every available advantage on the battlefield.
