😃 LET’S GET SPICY 😃 Our June Spice of the Month Club spice is Paprika! Paprika is a versatile spice made from ground red peppers that acts as the ultimate kitchen shapeshifter. Depending on whether it’s Hungarian or Spanish, it can totally transform your dish with vibes ranging from sweet and smoky to wildly fiery. Bonus points: it’s not just a pretty, bright-red seasoning—it’s also secretly a nutritional powerhouse loaded with vitamins and antioxidants!

🌶️ What is the "Spice of the Month Club?" 🌶️ Each month a small sampling (approximately a tablespoon) of our selected spice will be available to pick up. We’ll include a pamphlet with information about the spice and a couple of recipes to try it out. 🌶️ A new spice will be available on the fourth Monday of the month. 🌶️ Just visit the Reference desk on Level 2. No registration needed. First come, first served.

✨🛡 JUNE 6: Kick Off Summer with a Ren Faire! 🛡✨

🎉 On Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the library will host A Merry Medieval Faire—a massive, library-wide, summer kickoff celebration spanning both indoor spaces and outdoor grounds.

👋 WHAT TO EXPECT 👉 The day will feature performances by The Torch Sisters, Oh Claire Improv, Bethany Shuda (harp), Peter Phippen (world flutes), and more. Demonstrations will include dipping tapered candles with Kaiserson Bee Co., swordplay with Red River Fencing, falconry with Todd Johnson, Renaissance fashion with Kim Sandford, wool spinning with Deborah Robie, and more. One can also expect crafts, activities, games, and a library-wide scavenger hunt.

📚 The festival also serves as the official launchpad for the library’s annual Summer Reading Programs. Community members of all ages—kids, teens, and adults alike—can officially pledge their commitment to keep reading over the summer months. Participants can track their progress to unlock "treasures beyond compare."
