The Instructional Media Center (IMC) is located in the lower level of McIntyre Library at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. It houses the library's collections of K-12 textbooks, teacher professional books, contemporary and historical children's books, some education journals and periodicals, multimedia, and videos. Current examples of teachers' editions of elementary and
secondary level textbook series for all major subject areas are located in the IMC. The collection currently includes teacher's editions of all major subjects elementary level textbooks used by the Eau Claire Area School District. Professional Collection
This collection consists of handbooks for teachers--suggestions for classroom activities, lesson preparation, bulletin boards, bibliographies, curriculum guides, and instructional methods books. Children's Book Collections
This collection reflects the holdings of a K-12 level school library. Older editions of fiction, nonfiction and picture books for children are available in the historical children's book collection. Many of the books illustrate some of the earlier trends in the development of children's literature. Multimedia Collection
The IMC also maintains a collection of mixed media resources, whether appropriate for use by young children or university students and instructors. Formats include games, realia, models, puppets, and larger curricular sets. Faculty/staff requests for purchase of materials for the media collection are made through the regular acquisitions channels (through Collection Development). Requests should include an indication of the specific format of the material.
