Hello Summer! ☀️ The hot days of summer have officially arrived! That means sunshine, fresh veggies, community events, and hopefully enough volunteers to keep us all from melting.
Last month felt a bit like Wisconsin weather bingo—rain, wind, sunshine, repeat—but through it all, we saw an increase in both meals served and food donations. We are grateful to continue meeting the needs of our neighbors and providing a place where everyone is welcome at the table.
A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers and donors. You are the secret ingredient in everything we do. Because of your generosity, compassion, and willingness to show up, we're able to make a real difference every day.
We also kicked off our summer roadshow season! The Community Table had the opportunity to connect with our community at Food Truck Friday, the NorthStar School Picnic, Hmong Youth Day, and the NAMI Walk. This month you'll find us at Lifelong Learners Academy, Pride, Juneteenth, Peach Fest, and several other events throughout the summer. If you see us out and about, stop by and say hello!
As many of us enjoy vacations, family gatherings, and a slower summer pace, I want to offer one gentle reminder: hunger doesn't take a summer break. The need for meals and support remains steady, and so does our need for volunteers. Even a few hours of your time can make a tremendous impact.
As I often say, there is no Community Table without the community. Whether you volunteer, donate, spread the word, or simply cheer us on, you are part of this work. If you're looking for ways to help, visit our website to see our current volunteer opportunities and supply needs.
Wishing you sunshine, laughter, and plenty of reasons to gather around the table this June.
With gratitude,
TJ
