We continue to monitor the potential for accumulating snow and bitterly cold temperatures late week and into the weekend. Confidence is high in cold temperatures with wind chills falling into the -15 to -20 degree range and possibly as low as -25 degrees Saturday. As for snow exact amounts are still being worked out with most of the area having a chance of at least one inch.

Models are showing the possibility of a late week storm system moving into the region. Snow and much colder temperatures will be possible in the Tri-State region. Continue to monitor the forecast for updates.

Strong northerly winds affected the entire Tri-State Area on Friday January 16, 2026. Sustained winds as high as 45-55 mph and gusts exceeding 75 mph were observed at both Goodland and Burlington.

There are now mandatory evacuation orders for the area of I-76/Highway 59 to the west, South to the Phillips County Line, and County Road 36 to the East. EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY!!

Sub-zero wind chills are expected for portions of Nebraska and Colorado Saturday morning. Wind chills in the single digits are expected for northwest Kansas.
