Quaid Mull knew he had to be near perfect as his Tigers prepared to face #3 ranked powerhouse Shenandoah for the Sectional 41 championship. And near perfect he was! The tenacious senior refused to give in, pitching a complete game and allowing just 1 run as he led the young Tigers to a 2-1 SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and a trip to Park Tudor next Saturday. The Tiger’s opponent is not yet known. The midday game did not last long as the fans were treated to a masterful pitcher’s duel. The Tiger hitters struggled early versus flame throwing Louisville commit Collin Osenbaugh. But in the top of 6, the Tigers led off with two walks, followed by a bunt single, and then a two run single off the bat of junior Wyatt Burris. Mull did surrender a lone single in the bottom of 7, but then got the final batter to fly out and secure the victory. Retired Union County Coach Jeff Mathews called the game the best the state had to offer on this day. I have to agree.
