Volunteer firefighters respond to emergencies at all hours, train year-round, work full-time jobs outside of the fire service, and sacrifice time with their families to be there for complete strangers when they need help the most.

To every volunteer firefighter across the country, and especially the men and women who serve right here in Lyon County, THANK YOU!
Thank you for your courage, your commitment, your countless hours, and your willingness to put others before yourselves.

Your communities are safer because you choose to serve. The sacrifices you make, the time you give, and the lives you touch never go unnoticed.

Today, Kuttawa Fire Department joins communities across the country in recognizing the men and women who volunteer their time to serve others. 🚒

Being a volunteer firefighter means answering the call in the middle of the night, leaving family dinners, missing holidays, training after a long day at work, and showing up whenever someone needs help.

Our firefighters have full-time jobs, families, and responsibilities of their own, yet they continue to give their time and energy to protect the people and community they call home.

To our Kuttawa firefighters and every volunteer firefighter serving not just across Lyon County but our neighboring communities, thank you. Your dedication, sacrifice, and willingness to answer the call make a difference every single day.

We are proud of the men and women who serve our community.

The Courthouse and Judicial Building will be closed tomorrow (Friday) because of the damage around the courthouse and downtown. We will be doing damage assessments in the morning and assisting in clean up operations. Please avoid this area.

If you have damage at your home or business and we haven’t spoken to you, you may call to report it at 270-963-1557.

Thanks to the Eddyville and Kuttawa Fire Departments, Eddyville Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Lyon County EMS, Lyon County Emergency Management, Atmos Energy, Kentucky Utilities, and to Caldwell County & the City of Princeton for their assistance tonight.

Please avoid the area around the Courthouse & Judicial Building located at 500 West Dale Avenue. Several businesses, a few residences, and other structures were damaged in this storm.

The Following Roads are CLOSED in this area:
West Dale Avenue
West Main Street
Trade Ave

At this time we do not need any volunteers. For the safety of everyone and record keeping, we are unable to move anything at this time. We will post in the morning if we need volunteers, when and where.
