Join our Parenting After Loss 2.0 chat space!

The group discusses the full gambit of raising children while also grieving the baby we cannot hold in our arms. Whether you have a newborn or your children are older, we recognize a need to process how a grief journey of pregnancy or infant loss impacts parenting your living children. This is a space to talk about our specific experiences and complicated emotions.

Each month we offer a topic of conversation and a resource for parenting after loss.

EMAIL or MESSAGE for the link to join!

Thanks to Lamoille Family Center for sponsoring this space for busy parents to connect!

Team Copley cannot be more proud of you Dale!
Congratulations, Dale Porter, for being awarded the Vermont EMS Lifetime Award! When you think about a long-standing commitment to Emergency Medical Services, you immediately think of Dale Porter. As far as our records show, Dale began her time in EMS in 1976, and since then, she has been integral to the growth of so many EMS clinicians as a nurse, a nurse educator, a Paramedic, an EMS educator, and an assistant medical examiner. Dale has touched thousands of lives over her career, and the people she taught and supported are now providing care for thousands more. As one person wrote in their nomination letter, “Dale is more than deserving of the Vermont EMS Lifetime Award and it would be an honor to all of us if she were to receive it.” Thank you, Dale!

After sudden loss, many people experience what’s often called: Grief fog. It’s your brain’s way of protecting you while it processes loss.

You may feel:
🧠 Foggy or forgetful
💬 Struggle to focus or speak
💤 Tired, no matter how much you rest

This is your mind prioritizing emotional survival. You're not broken—you're adapting.

💡 Tip: Build in simple, repeatable routines. Small daily habits can help bring clarity and stability.

Gary Sturgis - Surviving Grief

This is an excerpt from Sharing Magazine contributor Brooke D. Taylor. Unimaginable: Life After Baby Loss is now available on Amazon. It tells the story of surviving the death of her first daughter, navigating the complexities of life after pregnancy loss, and discovering that grief can somehow become a part of life without overtaking it completely.

Not the kind of lonely where you miss a call or spend a night alone. The kind that makes you feel like you’ve been dropped into another world—one where no one speaks your language and everything familiar has gone quiet. You can be surrounded by people, even people who love you, and still feel completely unseen.
Grief is lonelier than you ever imagined. Because no one else lost your person. No one else carries the exact story, the exact moment, the exact ache that you do. People try to understand, but most don’t know what to say. So they say nothing. Or they change the subject. Or they disappear.
The silence can feel unbearable. And in that silence, you start to wonder if your pain even matters to anyone anymore.
So I want to say this clearly: I see you.
I see your pain. I see your exhaustion. I see the way you carry it all while the world keeps spinning. You're not imagining how hard this is.
There’s a whole silent, aching circle of us—grieving parents, grieving children, grieving humans—sitting in that same space. You may feel like you're the only one, but you're not. We’re here. Quiet, hurting, and holding space for each other the best we can.
You may feel like you're the only one. But you're not. You're one of us. And even if we never meet, you’re not alone.
