A Mighty Girl

A Mighty Girl

When we highlight children's books about real-life Mighty Girls and women, they often focus on individuals from Western countries such as the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. While kids' books about remarkable women from elsewhere around the world are often harder to find, there are fortunately growing numbers of titles celebrating the accomplishments of girls and women worldwide.

In celebration of International Women's Day, we're featuring a collection of 50 books about global girls and women from Afghanistan, Chile, the Philippines, Gambia, Syria, China, and many other countries around the world!

There are dedicated scientists, gifted artists, empowering politicians, and courageous activists. By sharing these stories with our kids, we can help them develop a global perspective on women's contributions — one which helps more women's voices be heard in both their own countries and around the world.

To read our blog post, "Mighty Girls & Women Around the World," visit https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=33102

For Women's History Month, we've sought out the best biographies and historical fiction for children and teens about inspiring girls and women of the past and present, many of whose stories have been neglected by history. To browse our extensive collection of books about Mighty Girl role models, visit https://www.amightygirl.com/books/history-biography/biography

You can also sort our biography collection by the various role models' specializations from science to the creative arts at https://www.amightygirl.com/books/history-biography?cat=206

As always, if you purchase books that you discover on A Mighty Girl via the "Buy from Bookshop / Amazon" and other links found within this blog post and on every product page, we receive a small commission at no added cost to you, which allows us to maintain our website and continue to provide girl-empowering resources like this page for you as your own Mighty Girl grows. We appreciate your support!

In 2026, women's voices are more critical than ever.

Not because history demands it, but because the present does. Too much is at stake.

Women make up half the electorate. When women participate, democracy becomes more representative, more accountable, and more responsive to the realities families and communities face.

This Women's History Month, we recognize the power women hold right now and the impact that power continues to have.

We are not observers of democracy -- we are its backbone.
