for dine-in or takeout.

Patrick Gallivan

It is my honor to name, posthumously, Army Captain John Levulis to the NYS Senate Veterans Hall of Fame. The Eden native served in Afghanistan as a platoon leader with the 10th Mountain Division. He died in 2015 when his military vehicle was struck by a car while traveling to Fort Dix, NJ.

I was proud to present his parents, Barb and Gary, with a special proclamation outside Newell - Faulkner American Legion Post 880, Eden, NY where John created a tribute to military veterans as part of his Eagle Scout project. Captain Levulis is also survived by his wife, Julianne, and his brother, James, who could not attend today’s ceremony.

Thank you to Eden Supervisor Missy Hartman local veterans, family and friends for helping ensure Captain Levulis will never be forgotten.

Each August the KIA Memorial Road March takes place at Chestnut Ridge and participants in the road march donate nonperishable food items for the Gold Star Mothers Food Pantry and the Vietnam Veterans Food Pantry. As with almost everything else this year, the Road March is cancelled. However, KMR Road March personnel will be allowed to conduct the food drive portion of the event. Road March staff will setup a drive-thru service in the parking lot of Chestnut Ridge park to accept food donations throughout the morning.

If you would like to donate canned goods or nonperishable food items, we will have a collection barrel at Post 880 and you can drop off your items between now and Friday, August 14. Bob Franz has volunteered to deliver the donated canned goods to Chestnut Ridge next Saturday.

Thank you for supporting the local veteran food pantries.
