The Albemarle Area United Way was proud to present a grant check to Chowan County 4‑H, an organization that continues to inspire young people through leadership development, hands‑on learning, and meaningful community involvement.
From agriculture and STEM programs to public speaking, citizenship, and summer enrichment, 4‑H empowers youth to discover their strengths and build skills that last a lifetime. We’re honored to support a program that helps shape confident, capable young leaders right here in our region.
A heartfelt thank‑you to the Chowan County 4‑H team for the incredible work you do — and to our donors, whose generosity makes investments like this possible. Together, we’re helping local youth grow, thrive, and lead with purpose.

Women involved in agriculture wear many hats: balancing family, farm, business, and community roles. While farm life is deeply rewarding, it can also be isolating and stressful.

Mary Morris and Sarah Richardson partnered together to create “Together We Grow,” a special evening of connection and encouragement for women in agriculture. Participants enjoyed a healthy, home-cooked meal prepared by our Extension Master Food Volunteers and heard from McKayla Robinette with the NC Agromedicine Institute on positive ways to recognize and manage stress. The evening wrapped up with a fun, creative activity, painting a tractor door hanger to take home as a reminder that we truly are stronger together.

A special thank you to our generous partners, Bayer Crop Science and Mixon Seed, for helping make this meaningful event possible. 🌱💚
