Chowan County EMS (CCEMS), a county owned and operated service, started in 1965 and currently serves as the primary emergency and non-emergency medical service provider for all 233 square miles of Chowan County to include the town of Edenton. EMS is provided at the Paramedic level serving roughly 14,500 residents, workers, & visitors with quality ALS care 24 hours a day. Chowan County EMS operates

a fleet of 6 advanced life support ambulances and 2 state licensed ALS quick response vehicles out of 3 stations located strategically throughout the county to provide fast and efficient response to any incident requiring EMS. Staffing for an annual call volume of approx. 4,000 requests for service is accomplished by 26 full time employees and 20 part time employees.

Saturday evening, one of our crews responded to Gates County after they requested mutual aid. Our personnel assisted Gates County EMS and Hobbsville Fire Department with a motor vehicle accident near the Gates/Chowan County line.
