Today our Food Pantry family is grieving the loss of a faithful servant and dear friend. Jeanette Drew passed away this morning after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jeanette served our organization faithfully for many years as our TFAP/Food Manager. She worked under several directors during her time here, and each of us loved her like family. She was truly a joy to work with. Her quiet presence and quick smile were a constant at the pantry. And on the rare occasions when I could really make her laugh, that was the best.

One of the things that makes this organization so special—beyond the work we try to do in our community—is the genuine love we have for one another. It truly feels like family. We celebrate the wins together, and on days like today, we grieve the losses together.

While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing Jeanette is celebrating in Heaven today with her Heavenly Father.

Please keep Jeanette’s family in your prayers as they navigate this difficult time. Jeanette, we love you, and we promise to continue serving our community with the same faithfulness and strength you showed every day.

This week we had a wonderful visit from our local Cub Scouts, who stopped by the pantry with an incredibly generous donation — 361 pounds of food and $80 in cash to help support our neighbors in need.

We are so grateful for these young leaders who are already learning the value of service and community. Acts of kindness like this make a real difference for the families we serve.

Thank you, Cub Scouts, for showing what it means to give back. We appreciate you more than you know! 💚

❄️ Weather Closure Notice ❄️

Out of an abundance of caution due to expected snow and very low temperatures, the Edenton-Chowan Food Pantry will be CLOSED on Monday.

The safety of our clients, volunteers, and staff is always our top priority, and we want everyone to stay safe and off the roads during hazardous conditions.

We plan to reopen during our next regularly scheduled hours, weather permitting. Please watch our page for any additional updates.

In the meantime, please stay warm, check on neighbors, and take care of one another. 💙

🎂 Because every child deserves to feel celebrated 🎂

Today we received the sweetest donations — Birthday Kits filled with everything a family needs to bake a cake and make a child’s day special. 💛

For many parents, grandparents, and caregivers who are already carrying the weight of wondering where the next meal will come from, these kits lift a little of that burden. They allow families to create joy, memories, and a moment of celebration in the middle of uncertainty.

Small acts of kindness like these remind us that our community sees one another, cares for one another, and believes every child deserves to feel valued on their special day.
