No experience? No problem. Edgecliff Village Fire Department is now taking applications for our January 2027 Trainee Class.

We provide all training and equipment. Our hybrid academy puts most of the classroom work online, on your schedule, with all hands-on skills training done in person with our crew. Finish the program with your Texas Firefighter certification — a credential that can lead to full-time employment at a paid career department.

Looking to break into emergency services without paying for the training yourself? Here's how.

Edgecliff Village Fire Department's volunteer program is a free, hybrid path to your Texas Firefighter certification — most classroom work online, all skills training in person. No experience required to start.

Certified graduates are well-positioned for full-time roles at paid career departments. Compensated shifts are also available for members who already hold TX Fire/EMS certification.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, the Edgecliff Village Fire Department pauses to remember the 2,977 lives lost and the countless acts of courage, sacrifice, and service witnessed that day.

We especially honor the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to help others. Their bravery remains a lasting example to firefighters everywhere.

We remember those we lost. We honor those who served. We will never forget.
