Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office K9 Hank has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Hank’s vest was embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and NIJ certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 4,327 vests to K9s in all 50 states at a value of $6.9 million, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs that are at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $960 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1,744-$2,283, weighs an average of 4-5 lb., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information, or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please call 508-824-6978. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Beasley's family as well as North Augusta Public Safety.

Dustin Michael Beasley

September 12, 1990 – August 30, 2021

With sad and heavy hearts, Chief John Thomas and everyone at Public Safety announce the passing of one of our beloved officers, Dustin Michael Beasley.  He faithfully served behind the shield of many departments during his time in law enforcement. Dustin started his career at the Barnwell Sheriff’s Office.  He served in the Williston Police Department and the South Carolina Highway Patrol before coming to North Augusta Public Safety in December of 2020.  Wherever he worked or lived, he would be described as a man of integrity, high moral standards, devoted husband and loving father.  His colleagues, both past and present across the state are mourning the loss of a great man.  As we all continue to grieve, we ask to keep the entire Beasley family in your thoughts and prayers.  Rest in Peace, Dustin.

The Patrol Division was both proactive and productive this weekend, conducting safety checkpoints, initiating traffic stops, checks of private property, and more. On two separate incidents in Trenton and Merriwether, Deputies initiated a traffic stop during a safety checkpoint, where they located substantial amounts of narcotics from both vehicles. The occupants of both vehicles were arrested and a firearm, ma*****na, co***ne, methamphetamine, several thousand dollars in cash, and two vehicles were seized as a result.

On 8/05/2021 deputies were patrolling the area of Mealing Road when deputies initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle attempted to flee, resulting in the deputy pursuing the vehicle for approximately a mile until the driver stopped near a residence. Deputies were able to successfully detain the occupants of the vehicle and launch an investigation into their actions. During this investigation, deputies located several pieces of copper that were freshly cut, a catalytic converter, scales, and a battery-powered saw. Deputies also recovered methamphetamine from the occupants. All subjects related to the case were subsequently arrested. Theft of non-ferrous metals and catalytic converters have risen throughout the CSRA and we encourage the public to notify law enforcement if any suspicious behavior is observed.

I was so happy to drop these off to the Sheriffs Department today to show my appreciation for our law enforcement! Hot Cross Bundts proudly backs our blue! #backtheblue #smalltownsupport #Edgefield #edgefieldcounty
Trying to post and won't let me
Why are you flying low, tree top level, on Mealing Rd
I would like to take a moment to wish all the fathers with the Edgefield County Sheriff's Department Happy Father's Day and thank all of you for a job well done in our County!
Mr Rolling, please read the comments on your post and see how you can help our neighbors. Thank you
Now that we have a new sherriff, can the Tammy Kingery disappearance be looked into again? Her children and family deserve answers.
My neighbor’s whole property is a construction zone right now... but they’re coming onto my property with their heavy equipment and tearing up the yard!! What can be done about this??
To Mr. Rowland as I was driving down the bypass this morning at approximately 7:45 I was behind one of your Deputy's. As he was speeding up I decided to see how fast he was going for no reason and probably should have recorded it for proof to the county. I infact know for sure that he wasn't going on a call I feel that he is not above the law like many tend to think. That Deputy should be reprimanded and held accountable just like any other citizen. 60mph in a 35mph zone in front of the Hospital when going no where on a call is unacceptable so please enforce the law for those who think their above it.
When will something be done about the speeding and not stopping at the stop signs at the intersection of Murrah Road, Murrah Road Ext. and Five Notch Road? Gas Trucks, Dump Trucks, Tracker Trailers and Automobiles all speed thru this area. There have been multiples accidents at this intersection.
I had TWO Deputies pass me this morning with OUT their head lights on . This is dangerous and as you know Illegal. 1 its raised ing and 2 its foggy 3 its overcast all reasons under SC driving law required to turn on your headlights. Not the first time I have reported this issue. But first under this new administration
