🔔🎒 THE SCHOOL BELL RINGS TOMORROW! 🚌📚

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2, students will head back to the classroom and familiar school-day routines will return to our community.

With more children walking, biking, crossing streets, and waiting for buses, drivers are reminded to use extra caution—especially during the morning and afternoon hours.

🚸 Slow down and watch for students in and around school zones
👀 Stay alert for pedestrians and crossing guards
📵 Put distractions aside and keep your focus on the road
🚌 Watch for school buses and obey flashing lights and stop signs

📸 A friendly reminder: School zone safety cameras will also be up and active. Please pay attention to posted speed limits and help keep our students safe.

🔔 As the school bell rings in a new year, let's all do our part to make sure every student gets to and from school safely.

We wish everyone a positive, safe, and successful school year! ❤️

🚧 PLAYGROUND CLOSURES – SPINNERS ARE RETURNING! 🚧

We’re excited to share that the playground cone spinners are ready to be reinstalled! 🎉

To safely complete the installation, our crews will need access to the playground areas and equipment:

📍 Edgewood Community Park (ECP)
📅 Wednesday, September 2
⚠️ Playground closed all day

📍 Edgemont Park
📅 Thursday, September 3
⚠️ Playground closed all day

These temporary closures are necessary for the safety of the public while crews use machinery to reinstall the playground equipment.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to get these kiddo favorites back where they belong!

A big thank you to our crew for helping make this happen! 👷‍♂️🛠🌳

To say that death is a part of life is kind of an oxymoron. It’s also something Captain Obvious might say. A frequent reminder here at City Hall that life is precious is the regular lowering of the flag out front. At times, it seems as if it flies at half-staff more often than at full-staff. Currently, it is lowered in remembrance of Dolly Parton. I liked Dolly. Everyone seemed to like Dolly. But just because someone is beloved doesn’t mean they automatically get the flag-lowering honor. U.S. Flag protocol and etiquette dictate that. In Dolly’s case, she managed to secure a Presidential order by President Donald Trump. She also secured a Governor’s order by Governor Bob Ferguson. With their respective political leanings, it’s quite an impressive feat for her to get those two to agree on something. That says a lot about Dolly Parton and the life she lived. The order is in effect until sunset, September 1st, which should coincide with the conclusion of next week’s Study Session. So, on the way out to my car in the parking lot that night, I’ll be sure to stop and properly raise the flag back up. Only time will tell how long it will fly at full-staff before there is yet reminder that death is a part of life.
