To get capabilities to our warfighters faster, our Joint Project Manager for CBRN Integrated Early Warning’s Commercial-Off-the-Shelf Modernization (COTS MOD) team leverages commercially available equipment and user evaluation to streamline the acquisition process. This approach allows our team to quickly field needed capabilities for chemical detection, radiological detection, decontamination, and situational awareness to the joint force. Learn more about the COTS MOD process and how our team is on track to reach Full Operational Capability for the CBRNE Area RAE (pictured below) in just months.👇

Congratulations to 1st Lieutenant Erich Eifert, U.S. Air Force CBRN Defense Systems Branch, who was recently recognized as employee of the quarter for January to March 2026.👏 Erich successfully led an acquisition whiteboard session and briefed senior leadership on one of our critical integrated early warning capabilities. Outside of work, Erich has recently organized Habitat for Humanity volunteer events supporting a local home rehabilition project for a family in need in Aberdeen, Maryland. Join us in congratulating Erich on his well-deserved recognition in the comments!👇

Last week, our CPE CBRND Ms. Nicole Kilgore, Deputy CPE Mr. Wyatt Ulrich, and other members of our team participated in U.S Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Chemical Biological Center's Gas Mask Dash.🏃 Congrats to our very own Eric Baranoski on his first place finish! This was a fun way for people from Aberdeen Proving Ground tenant organizations to get some fresh air and exercise, spend time with colleagues, and celebrate a CBRND tradition. Check out photos of our team in the comments.👇

Last fall, our Joint Project Manager for CBRN Integrated Early Warning (then Joint Project Lead for CBRN Integration) team hosted an Integrated Layered Defense Capstone event in which Soldiers tested multiple CBRN capabilities together using a holistic approach. The capstone demonstrated successful interoperability of the tested systems, produced feedback for enhanced operational readiness and mission success, and generated data that will support decision-making and informed development of future concepts. Learn more about how this event is setting the stage for continued integrated layered capability testing.👇

Our Joint Project Manager for CBRN Integrated Early Warning recently achieved Full Rate Production on the Joint Biological Tactical Detection System (JBTDS).👏 The JBTDS is a portable capability that gives warfighters the ability to detect, collect, and identify Biological Warfare Agent aerosols quickly and accurately. With this capability, warfighters have more time to make decisions and reduce the risk of exposure. This is an important step toward getting the very best technology into warfighters' hands. See photos of the JBTDS below.
