🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Carol & Elizabeth! 🌟
We are so grateful for the incredible volunteers who bring their time, talents, and a little extra magic to MVCC! 💛

A special shoutout to Carol and Elizabeth for always going above and beyond for our community. Every Thursday evening at 6 PM, Carol spends time reading to the kids during our Seeds of Change Dinner, creating a fun and welcoming experience for our youngest community members. 📚✨

A couple of weeks ago, Elizabeth joined in on the fun and took story time to a whole new level by dressing up as a princess! 👑 The kids were so excited, and it made the evening extra special for everyone who joined us.

Carol and Elizabeth, thank you for the joy, kindness, and creativity you bring to MVCC. Volunteers like you make our community center such a special place! ❤️

🕺✨ We Hopped, Bopped & Had a Blast! ✨💃
What an incredible afternoon at our Sock Hop at the Prom! Our seniors, families, and friends came ready to have fun, and they certainly brought their dancing shoes! 🎶

From dancing and delicious food to contests, laughter, and time spent together, the afternoon was filled with so many special moments. We loved seeing everyone dressed for the occasion, hitting the dance floor, and making memories together. 💚

A huge thank you to Senior Helpers, Envision Hospice, Milton Activity Center, and AccentCare Hospice for partnering with Mountain View Community Center to make this event possible. We are so grateful for your support and for helping us create opportunities for our seniors to connect, celebrate, and have a great time together!

🌟 Another Amazing Week of Community Exploration! 🌟
What another amazing week at Camp Community Explorers! 💚

Our second session was filled with hands-on learning, creativity, movement, new friendships, and plenty of fun! Campers spent the week exploring STEM, art, health & fitness, and their community through activities that encouraged curiosity, teamwork, and connection.

🚒 One of the highlights of the week was a special visit from our local Fire Department! Campers had the opportunity to meet our local firefighters, learn more about what they do to keep our community safe, and get an up-close look at the fire truck. Thank you to our firefighters for taking the time to come out and create such a fun and memorable experience for our campers!

Throughout the week, it was wonderful to see campers try new things, build confidence, make new friends, and create memories together.

A huge thank you to our campers, families, volunteers, community partners, staff, and local firefighters for making our second Camp Community Explorers session such a success! 💚

Over eight weeks, you’ll enjoy weekly fitness classes, coaching, accountability, and practical tools to help you become Fit & Strong for Life! 💚

🥗 Plus, participants will have access to discounted real-food dinner kits from The Grocery Truck, complete with weekly recipes and convenient drop-offs.

A huge thank you to Mayor Dave Olsen for joining us at last week's Seeds of Change Community Dinner and taking the time to share updates about the City of Edgewood with our guests.

We truly appreciate your willingness to connect with our community, answer questions, and spend the evening with us. It was a pleasure having you, and we're grateful for your kind words about Mountain View Community Center and our Seeds of Change program.

Our Thursday night dinners are all about bringing people together around a shared meal, meaningful conversation, and a welcoming environment for everyone. We're thankful for community leaders like Mayor Olsen who recognize the importance of creating spaces where neighbors can connect.

Thank you again, Mayor Olsen, for your support of Mountain View Community Center and for helping spread the word about Seeds of Change. We hope to see you again soon!

Unlike many other cities, the City of Edgewood does not own and operate its own community center. However, we are fortunate to have an independent facility in our midst, Mountain View Community Center. They host a community dinner every Thursday night at 5:30 called Seeds of Change, of which I had the privilege of speaking at last night. I provided some city updates and like to think I charmed the crowd with my witty repartee as a small-town mayor. Actually, it was probably more like they politely listened and gave me some courtesy applause when it was over. These Thursday night dinners are open to any and all, no questions asked. Perhaps you and your spouse can’t decide what to eat on a Thursday? Head to MVCC. Or maybe you’re exhausted from a long day of work and tired of your kids asking what’s for dinner? Head to MVCC. Or if you’re a lonely extrovert and love to sidle up to a table of strangers and ask “Is this seat taken?”, then the Seeds of Change dinners are for you. Regardless of your reason, the welcome mat is out for all. See you on a future Thursday night.
