Hello Amazing Edgewood!
Right place, right time:
On August 14, 2026, Officer Chrise was flagged down by a business manager regarding a retail theft that had just occurred. The manager identified the suspect, and Officer Chrise, with the assistance of Sergeant Livingston, was able to quickly locate and detain the individual.
The suspect was found in possession of the merchandise in question, as well as a bag containing merchandise from another retail establishment in the area. A query through Allegheny County 911 further revealed that the suspect had an active warrant from a nearby jurisdiction.
The suspect was subsequently transported to the Edgewood Police Department (EPD) station and charged with two counts of Retail Theft and Disorderly Conduct.
At the beginning of 2026, the EPD implemented a program of routine business checks at retail establishments throughout the community. The purpose of this initiative was not only to increase our visible presence but also to build stronger relationships between our officers, business owners, employees, and other community stakeholders. These partnerships have contributed to our ongoing efforts to reduce crime and improve public safety throughout Edgewood.
This incident demonstrates the value of that initiative. Because Officer Chrise was actively conducting business checks at the Edgewood Towne Center, the store manager recognized him and was able to immediately flag him down and provide information that allowed officers to quickly apprehend the suspect and recover the stolen merchandise.
