Message from the Chief

As the Chief of Police for the Borough of Edgewood, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and say that it is a pleasure to oversee the police department in such a nice community. It has been over three years now since arriving in Edgewood and I continue to see more reasons every day that make this borough stand out as one of the nicer communities in Allegheny C

ounty. I want to express my gratitude toward the residents here in the borough. Your continued support of the police department is truly appreciated and does not go un-noticed. In this day and age a lot of communities across the country are struggling to maintain or develop positive relationships with the police. I am proud to say that our relationship with the community is a great one and I would like to see it remain that way. Keeping our streets safe is a full-time job for all of us here in the police department, a job that cannot be done effectively if it wasn’t for your cooperation and support. The Edgewood Police Department will continue to focus on the need to preserve our borough’s reputation as that of a safe, clean, and enjoyable place to live, work, and visit. We will continue to maintain our visibility on your streets through traffic enforcement and proactive patrols. Our response to your calls will be in a timely fashion, conducted in a professional manner, and will be handled fairly and courteously. I would not expect anything less from the officers that work here and neither should you. I believe we have a solid department made up of officers who appreciate your support as much as I do, and demonstrate this through their hard work and commitment to the community they serve. Again, thanks for all you do to make our work easier and Edgewood Borough a great place to be a part of. Payne

I-376 Parkway East Ramp Closure Extended in Allegheny County

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing a long-term ramp closure on I-376 (Parkway East) in Churchill Borough, Allegheny County, has been extended.

The current closure of the eastbound I-376 off-ramp to Greensburg Pike (Exit 79A) will remain closed to traffic around-the-clock for bridge and roadway reconstruction work through late June. Traffic will continue to be detoured.

Posted Detour

Eastbound I-376 to Greensburg Pike

From eastbound (outbound) I-376, continue past the closed ramp
· Take the Churchill (Exit 79B) exit

· Turn right onto Churchill Road

· Turn right onto Route 130 (Beulah Road)

· Turn left onto William Penn Highway

· Follow William Penn Highway to the intersection of Greensburg Pike

· End detour

The $100 million I-376 (Parkway East) betterment project will resurface the interstate and interchange ramps from the beginning of the Commercial Street Bridge in Edgewood Borough to the Monroeville (Exit 80) interchange in the Municipality of Monroeville. Additionally, bridge preservation to 20 structures including painting, approach slab replacement, concrete repairs, and other miscellaneous construction activities along with extensive drainage updates and a full concrete median barrier replacement. Safety improvements including a full highway lighting replacement from the Edgewood (Exit 77) to the PA Turnpike interchanges are included in this project. During the project, drivers can expect overnight and weekend lane restrictions on I-376 as well as short-term and long-term full closures of the interchange ramps. This project will be coordinated with other I-376 projects, including working during the Commercial Street Bridge Replacement project’s 25-day closure for the existing bridge demolition and lateral slide of the new bridge in July of 2026 to reduce impacts to the public. The overall project is anticipated to conclude in the spring of 2028. The Trumbull Corporation is the primary contractor.

Thanks to the super Edgewood STEAM Academy for the invitation to their Literacy STEAM Night.

Great to see all the loving families and amazing educators.

We handed out Child ID Safety kits and helped the children plant alfalfa and ryegrass seeds.

If any of you would like a Child ID Safety Kit they are available Monday-Friday at the Edgewood Borough building. These are a great tool in missing person investigations.
