A brief update on Duke Energy's storm restoration efforts in Kentucky.

As of 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, approximately 22,000 customers in Kentucky remain without power. Duke Energy crews have already restored about 19,000 customer outages in Kentucky. Overall, across our Kentucky and Ohio service territories, we have restored 141,000 customers but still have approximately 125,000 customers out. Making this storm particularly challenging is the fact that in its immediate aftermath, we had over 4,400 unique outage events. We still have over 2,600 active outages to repair.

Restoration work continues, but fallen trees, broken poles, damaged equipment, and the potential for additional severe weather may slow progress in some areas. Lineworkers, damage assessors, and tree crews are working as conditions safely allow, and Duke Energy is also utilizing self-healing technology to reroute power around damaged equipment and accelerate restoration efforts.

We remain focused on restoring service as quickly and safely as possible while prioritizing facilities that support public health and safety. Additional support resources are being brought in from other states to assist with restoration efforts.

We are working as diligently as possible to provide estimated time of restoration for those without power. Customers are encouraged to monitor outage updates through Duke Energy's Outage Alerts and its Outage Map at https://outagemaps.duke-energy.com/ #/current-outages/ohky. Customers can also stay updated via the Duke Energy smartphone app available via Apple Store or Google Play.

We appreciate your support as our crews continue working to restore power to affected communities.

‼️MESSAGE FROM DUKE ENERGY‼️
Good afternoon community leaders. The storm front that just passed caused widespread outages across our Ohio and Kentucky service territory. As of right now, we have 150,000 customers out of power and I won’t be surprised if that count continues to climb. We have declared a level 3 storm and have extra crews rolling to do damage assessments and facilitate repairs. With the nature of this front that brought widespread damage, I anticipate restoration will take time. I appreciate your patience. When it comes to restoration activities, we prioritize critical facilities first. We then work on the outages where the highest number of customers are impacted. And we continue that process until everyone is restored.

Our outage tool is going to be the best source of information. Please click the link below to access the outage tool.

Mayor John D. Link would like to thank everyone who came out this weekend to support two great City of Edgewood events!

Friday was a fantastic day at The Golf Courses of Kenton County for the Mayor’s Golf Outing, and we truly appreciate everyone who participated and helped make the event a success.

Then on Saturday, our City-Wide Yard Sale brought residents together for a fun day of shopping, selling, and getting out at Freedom Park. We hope you all made some good deals!

Thank you to everyone who participated in either event and helped make this weekend such a great one in Edgewood! We appreciate your continued support of our community and look forward to seeing you at our next event!
