This Black August, Half The Sky honors Black political prisoners and martyrs who have fought and still fight for our liberation inside prison walls.

We demand freedom for Chrystul Kizer, a Black girl who killed her abuser in self-defense and was then sentenced to 11 years in prison. Half The Sky recognizes Chrystul as a freedom fighter and her incarceration as political imprisonment for standing up to violent anti-Blackness and misogyny.

We call on our comrades to write her letters to remind her that she is not forgotten, lift her spirit, and show her that the people are with her until she’s free!
