Starting July 1, 2026, Texas will transition to a statewide permit system for Mobile Food Vendors.

Under the new system, food truck owners will no longer apply for permits through local health departments. Instead, permits and applications will be handled directly through the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

The changes also include updated statewide licensing and permitting fees, as well as a new online application process.

Junio es el Mes de la Atención al Alzheimer y la Salud Cerebral, un momento para crear conciencia sobre la enfermedad de Alzheimer, la salud del cerebro y la importancia de apoyar a quienes viven con demencia.

La enfermedad de Alzheimer es la causa más común de demencia, pero estos términos no significan lo mismo. La demencia es un término general que describe el deterioro de la memoria, el pensamiento o el razonamiento que interfiere con la vida diaria, mientras que el Alzheimer es una enfermedad específica del cerebro que provoca síntomas de demencia con el tiempo.

Aunque actualmente no existe una cura para la enfermedad de Alzheimer, sí existen tratamientos que pueden ayudar a controlar los síntomas y mejorar la calidad de vida. Today is Heat Action Day! We want to raise awareness about the dangers of extreme heat and share ways to help everyone this summer.

The hottest months in the Rio Grande Valley are typically June through August, with August often being the hottest month of the year. Make sure you are staying hydrated, wearing sunscreen, taking breaks in the shade, and wearing hats or light-colored clothing while enjoying outdoor activities.

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, brain health, and the importance of supporting those impacted by dementia.

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia, but the two terms are not the same. Dementia is a general term used to describe a decline in memory, thinking, or reasoning that interferes with daily life, while Alzheimer’s disease is a specific brain disease that causes dementia symptoms over time.

Although there is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s disease, treatments are available that may help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. Research also shows that adopting healthy lifestyle habits may help reduce the risk of cognitive decline and dementia. Small healthy choices today can support brain health for the future.

Are you up to date with your colon cancer screening? Did you know the recommended age to begin routine colon cancer screening changed from 50 years old to now starting at age 45?

If an immediate family member has a history of colon cancer, screening is recommended 10 years prior to the age your family member was diagnosed. If any of these pictures bring back memories… it may be time to schedule your colon screening! Early detection can save lives. Talk to your healthcare provider about which screening option may be right for you.
