The UTRGV Police Department hosted an intensive Police Cyclist Certification Course designed for law enforcement professionals seeking to enhance their mobility, tactical capabilities, and community engagement skills.
This comprehensive course combines classroom instruction with practical riding exercises, emphasizing officer safety, tactical mobility, community engagement, and patrol effectiveness. Participants will develop advanced bicycle handling techniques and learn how to utilize bicycle patrol as a versatile tool for proactive policing, special events, crowd management, parks enforcement, school zones, and urban patrol operations.

UTRGV Police Department officers successfully completed certification training in the deployment and use of police ballistic shields. This specialized instruction focused on proper shield handling, tactical movement, team coordination, and threat-response techniques designed to enhance officer safety and public protection during high-risk incidents.

Continuous training ensures our officers are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to respond effectively in challenging situations while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and service.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Police Department Training Division recently hosted an Intermediate Crime Scene Investigations course, bringing together officers from multiple law enforcement agencies to strengthen their investigative skills and professional development.
Throughout the course, participants received advanced instruction in crime scene management, documentation, evidence recognition, proper collection and packaging techniques, and courtroom preparation. Officers also completed hands-on practical exercises designed to reinforce sound investigative practices under realistic conditions.
UTRGV PD remains committed to providing high-quality training opportunities that enhance professionalism, strengthen partnerships among agencies, and support the pursuit of justice through excellence in law enforcement.
