We're sharing Palm Valley Animal Society's Intake at 8!
Yesterday 33 dogs and 41 cats came into the shelter's care. This post includes some of the strays that Animal Control and the public brought in from the cities we contract with. Please share so that any lost pets can find their ways home!
For the full listing of animals in our care, go to our website: pvastx.org/dogs, pvastx.org/cats
Friendly reminder: If you see kittens, leave them and see if their mom returns. Their mom is usually nearby, and kittens do much better outside with their mom than in a shelter. For more to do if you find kittens, check out: alleycat.org/community-cat-care/finding-kittens-outdoors/

All eyes on the sky tonight!
08/11/2020

All eyes on the sky tonight!

THE PERSEID METEOR SHOWER PEAKS TONIGHT! It's that time of the year again where Earth is traveling through the debris left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle. As this debris passes through Earth's atmosphere, meteors (shooting stars) will light up the night sky. While a few could be spotted at anytime tonight, the peak of the activity will be between 5am-6am early Wednesday morning. To see up to 40-50 meteors per hour, drive out to the country. The darkest part of the Valley is north central Starr County. A meteor could streak by in any direction, but you'll see the most in the darkest part of the sky, so look away from the moon and its light. You could still see a few shooting stars for the rest of the week, but tonight is the night for the best show. Good viewing conditions are expected with partly to mostly clear skies. Have fun! {Posted Tuesday 8:00am} - Meteorologist Matt Holiner

Wanna thank city of Edinburg for the mosquito spraying by sprague park our vote counts and tax dollars at work
I love Edinburgh🌹👍
City of Edinburg need to spray for mosquitos! So many and big ones
When or have you started fumigating for mosquitoes. Other cities have started, just wanting to know. It's getting worse each day especially when the stores are out of product to fumigate.
Please spray Edinburg with mosquito repellent. They are huge and all over the place.
Is the City of Edinburg attempting to apply for any type of grant through FEMA, such as a community-wide Hazard Mitigation Grant, to help with our flooding issues? Or, in the alternative, is the city prepared to assist residents seeking Hazard Mitigation Grants for individuals? This is not my field of study, but my basic research leads me to believe that our community is eligible. Also, it is my understanding that local governments must submit a letter of intent to FEMA within 30 days after a disaster declaration that notifies FEMA whether they will or won’t participate in the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Considering the time crunch and the devastation that much of our community still faces, is this prospect being considered or at least discussed?

Warnings from the Bible Concerning, Plagues: 2 Chronicles 7:12-20 Haggai 2:6-9 2 Chronicles 7:12-20 12Then the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. 16For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually. 17As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, 18then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man as ruler in Israel.’ 19“But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods, and worship them, 20then I will uproot them from My land which I have given them; and this house which I have sanctified for My name I will cast out of My sight, and will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples. Haggai 2:6-9 6 “For thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; 7 and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the [c]Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this [d]temple with glory,’ says the LORD of hosts. 8 ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts. 9 ‘The glory of this latter [e]temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the LORD of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the LORD of hosts
