🕊️ HEAR HER: A MOTHER’S BATTLE CRY FOR JUSTICE FOR LATWO
A YEAR WITHOUT LATWON—A LIFETIME OF LOVE 🕊️

On September 6, we speak the name of Latwon Oscar Uribe and stand beside his family on the first anniversary of his passing.

Latwon was born September 24, 2008. His life ended September 6, 2025, just days before his 17th birthday. He was only 16—a beloved son and grandson with dreams, a story, and a future that mattered.

Today, our hearts are especially with Latwon’s mother, Grandma Yvonne, and his grandfather. For them, one year is not a finish line. Grief does not follow a calendar, and love does not end when someone dies. Every memory, birthday, holiday, and quiet moment carries the presence of the young man they love and deeply miss.

Latwon must always be remembered for the life he lived—not only for the tragedy that took him. His smile mattered. His dreams mattered. His place within his family mattered. His name will continue to be spoken with love.

Remembering Jamiziel Trejo: A Precious Light 🌟👼
In loving memory of Jamiziel Trejo, a sweet and precious soul who graced this world for just under two years. Born on September 12, 2013, Jamiziel was a beacon of joy, innocence, and pure love. Though his time with us was heartbreakingly brief, his impact was profound and everlasting.
Jamiziel’s bright smile and curious eyes brought light into the lives of all who knew him. His playful spirit and innocent laughter filled every moment with happiness. Though he was only one year old, soon to turn two, his presence was deeply cherished and forever etched in the hearts of family and friends.
Though taken from us too soon on September 5, 2015, Jamiziel’s memory lives on as a precious treasure, a symbol of love that transcends time. His spirit continues to inspire us to cherish every moment and to love unconditionally.
Forever loved and forever remembered, Jamiziel Trejo remains an angel watching over us, reminding us that even the shortest lives can leave the most beautiful legacies. His gentle soul will never be forgotten, and his memory will forever be a source of comfort and strength.

September 6 marks one year since Felipe’s family experienced a loss that changed their lives.

One year has passed—a year of first holidays, birthdays, family gatherings, and ordinary moments without him. Yet grief does not follow a calendar, and love does not end when a life is taken.

Felipe was more than the circumstances of his passing. He was a son, family member, friend, and loved one affectionately known as “Negro.” His cowboy hat, smile, and presence remain in his family’s memories.

Today, we speak Felipe’s name and honor the life behind the photograph. We remember the relationships he created, the moments shared with him, and the lasting place he holds in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Today marks 33 years since Veronica Lee Martinez left this world at only 14 years old.

More than three decades have passed, but time does not erase a life, a name, or the love a family continues to carry. Veronica was more than the tragedy that ended her young life. She was a beautiful young girl with a bright smile, dreams, relationships, and a future that mattered.

This week, we honor what would have been Gianncarlo’s 22nd birthday.

A birthday does not stop being meaningful when someone we love is no longer physically present. It becomes another opportunity to celebrate their life, speak their name, and remember the love and happiness they brought into this world.

Gianncarlo’s life cannot be measured only by two dates or by the tragedy that ended it. He was a son, family member, friend, and young man with a beautiful smile and a future that mattered. MOTHER’S BATTLE CRY FOR JUSTICE: THROUGH HER EYES AND HEART 🚨

Seven gunshots. Four children present. One father taken from his family.

Case No. CR-6433-25-B | 93rd Judicial District Court

According to the allegations, a father was shot seven times in front of four children. Those children now carry memories no child should ever bear. His family lives with an absence that cannot be repaired.

The court record identifies Fernando Sandoval III as the defendant charged with murder, felony murder, and four counts of abandoning or endangering a child. He remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Recent motions concern the inspection and testing of physical evidence, a possible amendment to the indictment, the jury panel, and other evidence the State may seek to present. Legal motions are part of due process, but they must never cause the victim or the family’s need for answers to be forgotten.

The family appreciates the prosecution and victim-assistance team. They respectfully request clear answers about what these motions mean and whether they could affect the evidence or trial.

We are watching.

We are reading the court record.
We are standing beside this family.

The motion hearing is scheduled for September 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The jury trial is set for November 16, 2026.

❤️ Another Meaningful Peer-Support Luncheon

Today, Ms. Juana Villarreal and I shared another meaningful lunch at El Junction Café, our favorite place to meet, talk, remember, and continue building our friendship.

Ms. Villarreal carries the love and memory of Julio, while I carry the love and memory of my brother Roger. We may have been brought together through tragedy and grief, but our ongoing friendship reminds us that we do not have to carry this journey alone.

Peer support is more than attending a meeting. It is listening without judgment, understanding the emotions others may not understand, saying our loved ones’ names, and simply being present for one another.

Some friendships provide comfort for a moment. Others become a source of strength and emotional support that can last a lifetime.

🕯️ Preparing for September 25: Every Candle Has a Story

Tonight, we had a meaningful support group meeting as our families continued preparing for the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims and our 14th Annual Candlelight Vigil on Friday, September 25, 2026.

September 25 is more than a date on the calendar. It is a time to come together, speak our loved ones’ names, and share who they were—not only how they died. They are more than statistics, photographs, or case numbers. They are deeply loved people whose lives and stories still matter.

Tonight, we said their names:

Jolissa, Julio V., Erick, Freddy, Rebecca, Magdalena, Genaro, Kevin, Esteban, Meme, Agustin, Wendy, Roger, Efrain, Ever, Rolando, Juan, Julio S., Daniel, Latwon, San Juanita, Baby Lulu, Jovani, David, and Cynthia.

For me, this journey began with the promise I made to my mother after my brother Roger was murdered: “Promise, Mom.” Today, that promise includes every family we serve.

We are also preparing for upcoming proclamation recognition efforts involving Pharr, McAllen, Hidalgo County, Edinburg, and Mission. These proclamations publicly declare that our loved ones mattered, their families are seen, and our communities will not forget them.

Join us September 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the José “Pepe” Salinas Memorial Recreation Center in Pharr.

Abel was more than a photograph and more than the tragedy that took him from those who loved him. He was a son, a family member, and a young person whose life held meaning, dreams, and a future.

Today, we honor the life and memory of Officer Rosalin Suarez Jr., who was a dear friend of our family. We also remember his widow, Mary, who has carried his love and memory through the years.

🕯️ May 19, 1981

Although the years have passed, Officer Suarez’s life of service continues to hold meaning. His name remains part of our family’s memories and our community’s history. His service and sacrifice deserve to be remembered with dignity and respect.
