Dear East Side Students,

It’s Fall Festival time in Edinburgh!

I hope you have an AWESOME time enjoying one of the best weeks of the year in our great community. Eat some cotton candy, grab a chicken on a stick, ride the rides, play some games, and make some great memories with your family and friends.

But remember — Mr. Schoettmer has a few important Fall Festival rules!

First, have fun and be safe! Stay with your family, make good choices, watch out for one another, and show everyone at the festival what it means to be an East Side Lancer.

Second, and this one is VERY important…

You still have to come to school!

I know what some of you are already thinking:

“But Mr. Schoettmer, I ate three bags of cotton candy!”

“I rode the Crazy Dance 14 times!”

“I stayed up way too late!”

“My stomach hurts because I thought a funnel cake counted as dinner!”

Nice try.

School attendance still matters during Fall Festival week!

So even if you stayed out a little later than normal, ate enough fair food to feed an entire classroom, or spun around on rides until you’re still dizzy the next morning, we still want to see your smiling face at East Side!

And while you’re at the festival, make sure you stop by the H.O.P.E. Booth for a drink and a snack from some of your favorite East Side teachers. Just remember to be nice to them — they have to come to school the next morning too!

Have fun, enjoy everything that makes Edinburgh such a special community, and make some great Fall Festival memories.

Be safe, be kind, and GO LANCERS!

⚾ Opening Day is Here! ⚾

Dear East Side Families,

Tomorrow is Opening Day at East Side Elementary, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome our students back for the 2026-2027 school year!

Just like every great baseball season begins with the first pitch, every great school year begins with the first day. Tomorrow we step onto the field together with fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, eager minds, and endless possibilities.

This season, our team has 180 school days to grow, learn, and improve our academic stats. Every book we read, every math problem we solve, every act of kindness we show, and every challenge we overcome moves us one step closer to becoming the best version of ourselves.

At East Side, we know championships aren't won in a single game—and successful school years aren't built in a single day. They are earned through consistent effort, teamwork, perseverance, and a positive attitude. Whether your child is stepping into kindergarten for the very first time or beginning their final season at East Side as a fifth grader, we are excited to cheer them on every step of the way.

Personally, I am incredibly excited to begin my eighth year as Principal of East Side Elementary and my fifteenth year with Edinburgh Community School Corporation. It has been an honor to serve this amazing community, and I can't wait to see what our students, staff, and families accomplish together this year.

As we take the field tomorrow, let's remember:

Show up ready to play. Attendance matters!
Give your best effort every day.
Support your teammates.
Celebrate growth—one day, one lesson, and one success at a time.

Here's to a season filled with learning, laughter, friendships, and unforgettable memories.

Play Ball... and let's have an incredible 2026-2027 school year!

Go Lancers!

Sincerely,

Jason Schoettmer
