Camp Atterbury–Muscatatuck Training Center recently marked a change of responsibility as Command Sgt. Maj. Brad Simmons assumed duties as the installation’s senior enlisted leader.
Simmons brings more than 26 years of service and a commitment to supporting the installation’s mission of training and preparing the joint force.

Indiana Army National Guard Command Sgt. Maj. Brad Simmons assumed responsibilities as senior enlisted leader of Camp Atterbury–Muscatatuck Training Center during a Feb. 27, 2026, ceremony marking a transition of enlisted leadership at the state’s premier joint training installation.

Congratulations to Class 26-001 from the 138th Regional Training Institute at Camp Atterbury who graduated this past weekend from Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS), earning their place among the Army's technical experts and trusted advisors.

As one of only two phase one WOCS sites in the nation, Camp Atterbury continues to shape the future of the warrant officer corps and Army as a whole.

Join us in welcoming our new garrison commander, Col. Daniel Bell, who assumed command of the Indiana Training Center at Camp Atterbury during a ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 7.

We are immensly grateful for the dedicated service of our outgoing commander, Col. James Babbit, and wish him all the best in his future assignments.

Col. Bell takes command with a foucs on warfighter readiness and a deep commitment to our Soldiers and communities. We are excited to welcom him to the team!

Camp Atterbury will be conducting EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) training throughout the day on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Community members in the surrounding areas may hear periodic loud noises or explosions as part of this scheduled training.

Please know that these activities are planned, controlled, and pose no danger to the public. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience as our Soldiers train to maintain readiness and safety.

Yesterday, the Camp Atterbury Garrison Command team joined Jimmy John’s staff and community partners to officially cut the ribbon on the installation’s newest dining option!

The event marked the grand opening of the brand-new Jimmy John’s right here on post, giving Soldiers, civilians, and families another convenient option for fresh, fast meals during their busy days.

Garrison leadership participated in the ceremony alongside the store’s team, celebrating continued growth in services for the Atterbury community.
